It depends if you level up your magic, and depending on the perks/potions you use. I'm a warrior and I find the magic use fine so I'm sure for mage it'd be a lot better.

I thought you were trying to imply the game was depressingly bad lol, which I can understand how it can be a legitimate comment but at the same time a rather extreme one at that. One thing I've noticed is that the game doesn't have much happening in the screen most of the time, more flashing/effects in general tends to work for me.

Love wrote: How is the caster experience ? Mana appears to be burned rather quickly You need to put most your points into magicka when you level because else you'll run out of it, but that leads to the fact that you're running really low on health. It's a tricky balance and alteration, alchemy, restoration or a combination of those skills are a near necessity to survive as a mage. And encountering enemies who have a (partial) resistance to magic while they pack a mean punch, can lead to reloading more often than you'd care for. Having a companion or relying on conjured creatures will also increase the odds of survival. Dragons on the other hand are a joke to kill though as a mage. In the end magic for me is fun though frustrating at times. If you want an easy time make a character that focusses on 1 handed combat, smithing, heavy armour and blocking and you'll be able to shrug of most damage.

2 hand warriors (some of them), giants, and trolls are the bane of probably all players...

The thing I always loved about The Elder Scrolls games is that they are entirely free roaming. You can chose to focus only on the main story line, or you can go off and explore and do some side quests, murder people for the Dark Brotherhood, level your skills. Anything you want.

Anything you want. 20 active quests for me right now. I stopped after about 10 story quests and have been doing mainly side quests. The game pretty much has an entire ecology. You can go anywhere you want, though technically, some of the monsters will kick your ass if you get near them at too low of a level. Don't know if they get easier at all, but beware of Giants. >.<

I miss my godlike magicka regenbuff and I didn't know what triggered it. But for a a short while, I could spam each and every spell without putting even a dent in my magicka bar. Maybe it was tied to finishing the College of Winterhold questline, but I'll never know for sure.

I know there is a robe that increases magicka regen by 75% so maybe you had that, and replaced it?

I reloaded a previous save to check and I did notice that I had 40 minutes left on a certain unnamed buff so I think was just a reward for finishing that questline.

Brago I will do the next best thing for you, I'll record myself playing so you can enjoy watching me do that ! Want to do this mostly couse I still can't take ss and I want to share my character.
ps. The game looks awesome, the youtube videos don't do it justice at all, most of them are playing on console and tbh coming in I actually thought the game would look that way, but this is not the case at all.
Also am I the only one walking across the map for any given quest for 20 minutes and not being particularly upset about it ? On my last big trip I fought a kritos or whatever they are called, super fun. It and a dragon were at the same location and ended up taking care of that, in what ended up being quite the memorable experience ( no shame in abusing terrain amiright ? ).
edit: is anyone else quicksaving like a madman ? after being sent back 5 minutes or so in time I am a bit paranoid about it, quicksaving every other fight pretty much.

i went ahead and bought it since i got 10% off lol.
Anyways, i got lost and had to fight some master vampire thing and took awhile to kill him but I got it. I started a wood elf but didnt like it, then restarted and zerg rushed a high elf and got to where i was as the woold elf like 20 minutes sooner lol.
Loving this game so far im on the companions quest chain right now gonna start back up tommorow sometime.

Buying a PS3 tomorrow so I can play it (my PC barely runs oblivion and I can't afford a new PC). Based on what everyone is saying it should be really awesome.

Got the game, I'm freaking amazed. It's so immersive. Running the game only on Med and it's freaking beautiful. Already got in trouble with some bitch ass female Orc, farked her up though Haven't really played Oblivion or Morrowind before so I don't really know what to level. This whole Constellation thing seems confusing. Also is there any "classes"? P.S: I made a Wood Elf.

Since if you're an archer, your archery will go up, and then you can buy some of the perks for that tree. Like to sneak everywhere? That will level you up and you can get sneak perks. Racials do have advantages for certain things (Nord is a good warrior, Wood Elf is good with archery, Dark Elf is good with destruction magic, etc...) It's all based on what YOU want to do with your character. Oblivion was a bit more restricted for this kind of thing.

You always had to keep track of what skills you level up how often and it just was a big mess. Overall definately one of the best games of the year. The only thing they REALLY f ucked up is the UI for PC. It's just atrocious, can't wait for a good mod for that...
