So i've been looking for new keyboard or mice that is more purposed for gaming. I've been doing fine with a standard microsoft keyboard and logitech mouse.( I have a mx518 but I dont really use it ) So far, I looked on newegg at the Razer products, and it seems that most of them arnt really worth some of the prices based on reviews. It seems like the G series keyboards are popular too, and have heard some positive stuff about them.

With christmas coming around, i'm already buying a new video card and monitor so i'd thought why not change the setup a little more with a new keyboard/mouse. I'm looking for around the 70$ range, but anyone with suggestions can post outside of the range aswell, but I think 100$+(USD) is a little overwelming for a keyboard/mouse. Feel free to post your own keyboard/mouse too, because im not really asking for you to look for a product for me, but rather indulge me with your knowledge on the topic :)

edit:
Microsoft SideWinder X4 seems really positive and popular for only 50$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6823109191
( Backlights dont match my blue ones though :( )

Logitech G series.. couple I found

Got a Logitech G15 (the first one) and a R.A.T. 7 myself.

Spoiler!

Spoiler!

I bought the Logitech keyboard for 85 euros ages back. I've had it for about 7 years and it still works perfectly, even the keys still feel really solid / new, it's a really decent keyboard.

The R.A.T. 7 is pretty new, i love the grip on it, but besides that i think you could do fine with a lower end mouse.
Mostly because games don't really support high DPI mice anyhow, when i play CoD for example i need an in game sensitivity of about 2-3% to adjust for the high DPI and even then my mouse is fairly sensitive.
The advantage to the R.A.T 7 and 9 (not sure if the 5 also has it) is the dual eye laser which has separate vertical and horizontal tracking, in shooter games its quite useful to have a higher horizontal sensitivity than vertical (since you aim at about the same height usually).

I'd look for a mouse that feels good in your hand with about 3000-4000 DPI (if you play shooters).
For the keyboard it fully depends on your preferences, back lit keyboards with LCD screens etc look cool and have some extra use- but a standard keyboard usually works fine too.

This keyboard is so old that I don't even know its brand, should be A4tech or something. The mouse however is Steelseries Kinzu, and I've got to say im pretty satisfied with it. No problem whatsoever and it costed me 30€ or something like that. Would have bought Steelseries Xai but it was a bit bigger and about 60€ expensiver so I decided to buy this one instead :)

Depending on how serious you are, mechanical keyboards are generally the same price as the G series (or cheaper depending). They aren't for everyone but they definitely (in my opinion) feel better than regular rubber dome keyboards. There are multiple switch types for mechanical keyboards so you'd have to research that as well...

Steelseries makes great mouses (mice?) but can also be on the more expensive side. The increased price in both steelseries and razer (and other) products are there for more than just brand name. They actually do have better technology behind them that may/may not (probably may not) affect you.

That being said, my recommendations:
Keyboard

Spoiler!

Mouse

Razer DeathAdder or Steelseries Kinzu/Sensei

As the people before me have stated, get a Razer Abyssus/DeathAdder and you'll be fine. They're relatively cheap compared to the other models of the serie.

I would highly recommend the Logitech G15 keyboard as well. I have the second version, and it just rocks! I really love it. And after a week you really can't live without the small LCD screen.
Spoiler!

As a mouse I personally use the Logitech G9x. It is a purely awesome mouse! The first time you put it in your hands, it WILL feel a bit big, though. However, after a couple of days of using it, you realize that the size actually just makes it more accurate to maneuver with. At least that's what I experienced.
Besides, it's ability to turn up and down the sensitivity directly on the mouse has been a life saver if you get into a game / application with a lower-than-ordinary mouse sensitivity.

Looks like the DeathAdder is very good for its price considering its only 40$. I'll probably pick it up unless someone else has a competitor to it.

Also, I never used a mechanical keyboard before, but I heard they are good for gamers. I use a PC alot for all sorts of things including gaming, but i'm not hardcore QQ gaming, but I do it on a daily basis.

For keyboards though, I dont think i'll go beyond 120+ range although the DasKeyboard looks awesome.

I saw Razer has the regular black widow for 79.99$
http://store.razerzone.com/store/razeru ... .211324200
that is mechanical but does not have the blacklighting as the ultimate version does for 129$.

Atm, i'm looking at that and the G110 from logitech right now.

edit: Is the G15 discontinued? Cant find it anywhere except for like 180$ :<

I've seen the G15 in several shops. Just go to your local hardware shop and ask them how much it costs, or at what price they can get it home.

Anyway, on the Logitech website it indeed seems like the G15 is gone. However, they have a G510 and I have a hard time finding any differences between those two keyboards to be frank.

EDIT: It's $119 on the Logitech website: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboards

Should wait for a person with computer knowledge than I have, but mainly its AMD and Intel.. Asus and the other companies just make stuff around their technology I guess. I have a AMD Motherboard and a Intel Processor, so yeah. My 2 cents :< Have someone else explain it to you lol

The things I hesitate on the G510 is that theres many macro keys that I wont use and it isnt mechanical.. which I kind of want since I never had one before lol. Comparing it to the blackwidow, Theres backlightning with custom colors which is cool, but I always play with lights on if its dark outside. The G510 is about a 10$ difference on newegg, so idk.

Brand name is irrelevant when buying. The socket type is what really matters. Intel Q6600 will only work on an 'LGA 775' socket. Certain AMD CPU's only fit on an AM3 socket..etc

I just bought a black widow and I can honestly say it's one of the best, if not the best, keyboards I have used.

Personally not a big fan of razer hardware as I've had some bad experiences with some of their products (as have some of my friends).

In terms of mice I pretty much always suggest the mx518 or g500 nowadays, but your budget doesn't allow for that plus a decent keyboard. I use a mechanical keyboard now and I'm super super happy that I finally put down the money for one, I'm absolutely loving it and it's been one of the best purchases I've ever made :)

Although I have heard good things about the black widow to be fair.

I understand the socket type but both Asus/Intel offer motherboards with the socket type that I need so does it matter who I buy it from?

Budget is around 50$ for the mouse, already dishing out 80 for the keyboard. Already have a MX518 on a different PC, but the main issue with that was the plastic shell covering which got really dirty fast if I used it alot on a day.

the higher end mouses look appealing, but why cost as much as a keyboard and more :/

My first pc build was low budget. I tried to cut costs by buying a cheap motherboard. 1) it burned out in about a year and a half 2) manual was in Korean and Chinese, farked me hard because it was my first build and I needed to know where all the components were and what purpose they served.

Motherboards are important. Brand preference isn't huge, but is important to get a good one.

I have a $50 motherboard that has been running fine for over 6 years. I have a $250 motherboard that died within 1 year, and has had significant problems throughout the other 3 years (after being replaced).

Love the macros on my G15. I can do all my stabs with imbue using just one key. So much better than using the F key row.

Thinking about upgrading to the G510 but haven't decided yet.
