The tattoo is not only for vanity reasons, if about creating a memorial to a particular aspect of life. Even if the tattoo is on wrinkled skin, it's meaning is still relevant. We all get old (if we live long enough) and we all will lose our beauty. I will age with dignity while wearing my wrinkly tattoos with pride. My tattoo concept is a rusted, deteriorated cage with a few broken bars and the door hanging on by a single, rusty hinge. The door if flung right open and a black and brown duck with a hint of blue & green in it's wing feathers is flying away, never looking back. I won't go into detail about the thought process behind it, but it's a commemoration to who I am now, the struggles I went through growing up as a child and the adversity I had to over come. Even if I grow older and change, it will always be there as a reminder to who I was and who I want to be. I never want to forget the memories I've had in the past, the present and the memories I will have in the future. My tattoo, and any more I will get in the future, are a permanent snapshot of reality that I will wear with pride throughout my life. 2 & 3. If I meet someone and they decide that they dislike me because I have a tattoo than in no way is that the kind of person I'd want to date or be friends with. If someone is so shallow as to judge my personality in it's entirety based on a tattoo than they aren't worth my time, simple as that. My friends, and those I have loved, appreciate me for the person I am and all that encompass my being. That's what makes my friends such amazing people.

Irrelevant, I've seen OLD ass Japanese dudes at festivals with their shirts off showing off their Yakuza tatoos (you know the ones that like cover your whole body etc) and they STILL look badass.

Holy shiz If you dont know what to get, dont get a tattoo... Other than that, dont think about it, just do it Do something that has meaning to you
Meaning --> look into getting a tattoo not Want to get a tattoo --> try to make up relation/meaning

In no way am I going to let a girl tell me that because she doesn't like tattoos, I can't get any. Nope. If she doesn't like them then either a. she can learn to like them, or b. she's not worth the time if she can't accept me and my choices. I don't know where you're from, but in reality a relationship doesn't revolve around just a girl and how she feels. Nope, it's mutual. You can live in your fantasy land of never having a girlfriend and thinking that girls are goddesses that we should worship and bend over backwards for, but I'm going to do what I want if it concerns my body. No way is a girl going to tell me I can't get a tattoo. No damn way. NuclearSilo wrote: I don't see it that way, there's nothing proud about it.

I don't know what makes you think you're such an expert on human psychology, but you like to come up with some pretty radical statements. The fact that you're so against people getting tattoos, which has absolutely nothing to do with you, shows that you are in fact pretty insecure. Maybe you're insecure about showing one off. Maybe you're insecure that people will think it looks funny. I don't know. All I see is you bashing on people because for some reason you believe getting a tattoo is tied to some weird inferiority complex. You throw around these baseless claims about a tattoo meaning you're "not self-confident" or "insecure" or "afraid of losing track in life" when in reality, tattoos are just tattoos. One last edit: Kindly leave this thread and go back to pining over your ugly asian chicks you like.

I believe I've stated my point well thus far. I don't need anything. Nor does anyone else who gets a tattoo. I don't see how you've come to that conclusion. If anything, like I said, you're the one who needs to bash on tattoos because you're insecure that people can get them and show them off and you're too ashamed to do so. See? I can make baseless claims too. I love when people try and troll. It's blatantly obvious because you've said the exact same thing pretty much in every post. I just like making you look bad.

My second and third, I got done, when I split from my ex, it was more of, I am away from that guy now, and just wanted something to show a different path in my life, I suppose. My forth, is Isis, do I need explaining why? My fifth is Nefertiti, she was the queen of Egypt. My sixth is of orchids, my favourite flower, as well as both my grandmothers and my mum's.

if your decision isnt 100% then dont get a tattoo, can always change that decision later... not so easy the other way around though.

Just going to 'bite' a bit on Silo's ideas, but the thought process behind a tattoo shares the same creation principles of that as any form of art. Music, sculpture, poetry, it's all an expression of self. If you lay claim that one is "inferior" for wanting to use their body as a canvas for expression, than you have to apply the same principles to anyone else who has spent their mental energies expressing themselves artistically. Art is what it is, it's not something to be degraded or looked down upon at. Frankly, I respect people with a creative mind and have the confidence, as opposed to the insecurities, to wear their life on their sleeves (both figuratively and literally speaking).

It's self decoration. Tattoos have absolutely nothing to do with a persons state of mind. Go think again, expert.
