I will be organizing a trip for my student 'dispuut' and I'm looking for some fun ideas and locations.
We will be traveling with around 15 people on a reasonably tight budget and want to avoid too known locations (i.e. Rome, Paris, Berlin etc) as this trip is with International Relations students only and we've all long explored Europe's most famous places.
Last time we went to Edinburgh, but since it's my turn now I want to come up with something really awesome.

So, if you know any cool cities with interesting history, good night life, accessibility and most of all low prices then please do tell. :sohappy:

I'll ask my brother about it. He's currently Ab-actis at
their dispuut, and he's been in a commission that organizes
such trips I think. I'll let you know the outcomes as soon
as I talk to him :]

What kind of stuff do you guys enjoy? and when?

personally I'm not fond of big cities, so when we went on a school trip to Yorkshire it was really pleasant for me. An old town, lots of nice views in and around it, best damn hotdogs I've ever had.

You should probably make a list of random things people in the group want to do and try to objectively search for places that fit in that description. For instance I'd probably look for the town with the most video arcades in it :D.

Alright, thanks a lot! Your advice has certainly served me well in the past :)

@Gladiator_RN: Prague is probably still too 'known'. I'm looking for something unknown but accessible. A couple of years back they traveled to a student city in the heart of Ukraine that no one had ever heard of, I'm looking for something like that. Student cities are a big plus since it'll probably have good night life and good activites during the day.

Yes Terschelling seems like a great place for a bunch of International Relations students! :P

@Dom, I'm gonna look into Bielefeld more. Looked pretty decent when I checked it a bit just now.

I've gotta say: Naples (Sorrento) in Italy was really cool, Tallinn Estonia also is quite interesting and full of history etc., Prague of course, and Copenhagen Denmark was also AWESOME!
Barcelona is really a great site also.

Oxford or Cambridge, England ;)

Failing that, come to my home town. We have tones of nightclubs, a university, and some other random stuff you could do... oh and we are the oldest recorded town in Britain lol.

Some of my fellow students went to Lisboa, they were pretty enthusiastic about it.

Hey,

So I talked to my brother, and with is dispuut he has been in
Riga and Tallinn. He especially recommends Tallinn and actually
has the adress where he and his dispuut stayed (he is looking
it up for me right now). The appartment they stayed at cost only
a few euro's per person more than a cheaper, less comfortable
accommodation. They actually had that entire appartment for
themselves (they went with 10 people I believe), so they didn't
even have to share it with other people.
He's also looking up the info they collected for Riga, but since
that's quite a while ago, he's not sure if he can find it.

EDIT:
Their accommodation in Tallinn was Pilve 4 (Pilve was the streetname).
He's looking up the mail with their contacts over there right now.

EDIT2:
In Tallinn they booked their accommodation through the following site:
http://www.apartment.ee/index.php?id=17 ... n=0&step=2

I've checked it. They have several appartments, like things for 10
people for which you pay 287e per night in high season. So not
really expensive I'd say :]
I just browsed through it though. There's probably better deals to be
found as well. And if you would take Riga in consideration I can ask
him for some info about that too.

Well, whichever city you pick, good luck with the organization and
have fun ;]

Tallinn looks really good! Definitely a location that would fit the profile nicely.
Thanks a lot, again! I'll bring it up during the next travel committee meeting and will let you know what we do :)

Don't f*cking say sunny beach, it's the only thing I ever hear and it's pretty crappy as far as I know D:
If you're gonna go to Bulgaria go to Kiten or something in the summer. Or Pamporovo in the winter. There's some nice caves around there as well; Devil's Throat and another one.
