Ok so i got a 2nd generation iPod touch and apparently the headphone jack/music is retarded. With Sony headphones: Its very lose, if i push it all the way in, the songs works fine. But as soon as I let go, they loosen up again and the volume becomes lower/starts to skip/music stops. Basically, if i dont keep pressure on the headphone to keep it in the headphone jack, the music doesnt work. So i bought the Apple headphones, now this is what happens. -On some songs, the music itself works fine. One ear is louder than the other for w/e reason -On most songs, some of the beats work fine (in the song itself). But the lyrics/main beats are heard very low, in the background. Basically the music is distorted and very different than its supposed to sound -On some songs you cant hear the lyrics at all, just some light beats.
Mindfuck? Anyone know what the hell is the problem I went to the Apple store and the guy told me its most likely the headphones (the Sony ones) which is why I got the Apple headphones. And now all this retarded shit happens. Thing is, at the Apple store all the songs seemed to work fine (with the other Apple headphones) that were on display. But then again i'm not sure, as it was in the mall and it was very crowded/noisy.
Thanks for any feedback >.<

I highly doubt its the headphones being the problem.

Try more headphones. It's unlikely that both your headphones have faulty connections, but it's possible. If it still happens, it's much more likely that the headphone port on your iPod is broken, or there is a firmware issue (unlikely, but possible).

Friend of mine had something similar.
Then he poked the slot for his jack (on his iPod) with a needle and pulled out a ton of dirt.. Worked fine afterwards.
I know it seems too obvious but maybe worth a try?

Well the thing is, bought of the headphones were brand new..>.<. But ofc like I said at the apple store when i tried their headphone there seemed to be no problem.. I guess ill try some more.
If its the audio jack being broken, how much is it to fix it? I am guessing Apple aren't saints enough to replace it for free or something even though its a problem wit hthe ipod itself and not something i caused?
@cin; isnt a needle a little risky as i could fck it up even more? o_O. I tried doing it with those cotton earbuds (with one half broken, w/o cotton) and i just got a little black stuff.

If you are gentle, using something like a toothpick to clean the insides is not a terrible idea. As for whether or not they'll fix it for you..that's really a hit or miss. I've read stories of 3.55mm ports being knocked loose or even ruined because of pressure exerted from the cable (such as dangling your phone/mp3 player by your headphone cable). That could be the case..or a faulty unit, who knows. I'm sure if you complain and make a scene at the Apple store they may repair it for free but that depends on how low you're willing to go to get a free replacement.
