I'm using the Logitech Wireless Gaming Headset G930 and am very happy about it
Blocks outside noise, stereo or 7.1, mic can be put up/down, mic itself is great
Battery fully charged goes 10 hours
3 buttons which u can preset (prev, next, pause, one of the voices that comes with the software, other macro's)
U can also build in profiles per game, so when u start a game a certain profile is loaded (so u can set the 3 buttons' macro's for each game)
Cable is long enough (2 cables, both can roll on/off from the receiver and have a nice length)
Range itself is pretty big
Adjustable "headsize"
Feels very comfy on my head & around my ears

Downsides:
sometimes loses signel when other people also use the same headset, because the receiver detects a second headset (eg. like @ Lanparties)
a tad heavy (well duh, it has a battery >< )
BIGGEST ISSUE: when there is no sound going through the speakers, it turns itself of after 10 minutes. which sux balls
So it's not possible to use the mic only (eg. skype: using mic & normal speakers -> headset turns off after 10 minutes)
-> workaround, open wmp, set g930 speakers as standard, play 1 song on volume 1, problem solved

and no, all wireless headsets use USB. Why?
stereojack only transfers audio signals where USB is also made to send "power".
Which is necesary to charge the battery & a headset using an external charger: no one would buy that.
Especially since everything is being made (micro/mini)USB to charge.
Just look at cellphones, all manufacturers agreed to 1 standard connector on their cellphones.

I also have a G930 like razorhead, and i would suggest not going for one that has to charge on a base just for the fact if you want to use it and it has run out of battery then you won't be able to. The G930 it has a cable you plug in to charge, but other then that it is wireless. Best headphones i have had personally, only real downside i see for myself is when moving the wireless base for one place to another the usb stick that sticks out of the top can break easily if you do not take it out and secure it somewhere else, i found this out the hard way :(

Ew gross.

On topic: look into a set of Turtle Beaches. Depending on how much you want to spend, I'd suggest these http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/xbo ... e-x32.aspx

I had my first pair of turtle beaches for ~3 years before I stepped on them, my current ones I've had since and they work like a charm.

I'd actually buy headphones and a headset. I gotta listen to music with a headset atm as I don't have headphones. Not too comfortable.

nooo that is just a pain imo, so much easier to have it all on one piece.

I think turtle beaches are all for xbox, not sure though. I have a pair of x41's, but haven't tried hookin em up to lappy / pc. If you do go turtle beaches, the wired ones have huge long wires, and they go like spaghetti real easy... I snapped my cord trying to untangle them.

They can be used for Xbox, PC, and PS3 usually. Also different types of headsets just for PS3, PC, or Xbox.

I have a pair of dx21's. very nice, except I wish you could adjust the frequency that the mic responds to. all of my friends complain about how they can hear a lot of background noise that goes on here that they couldn't with a $20 mic.

definitely get something with surround sound built in. make gaming more enjoyable I think.
