Hip hop, dubstep/house etc, a few alt/rock songs, some RnB songs. I mainly follow hip hop artists though (as in having their whole albums) while others i only have a few of their songs

I use to be solely about the \m/, but my tastes are quite varied now days. I'll listen to some old rock, hardcore, country, Jazz, easy listening, rap, dance, hell I like a lot of things. I don't really dislike any genres, rather I tend to dislike particular artists within a genre. There is nothing that I plain out won't listen to as music of any genre can create powerful emotions in me.

Hate rock/punk/metal and all the other million variations attached to the genre. Pretty much all of what your parents have been listening to if you're north-american white.

I hate.. Any music where the singer screams instead of singing. And I generally don't like etc.. Rap/Dubstep either. But there are a few exceptions here and there. xD

why do people hate music where someone screams... music =/= how good the singer is...
thats like saying you like "sweet child o mine" because you think axl rose is good singer lol
Don't know about you but the singer means 90% of the song. I don't like rap, it's always because of the vocals. I dislike most screamo music because of the vocals, the screaming kills the entire song.

I will listen to anything that sounds good to me. It's a very broad statement but if I don't like a particular song because it doesn't appeal to me, I just don't like it.

You pretty much said "I don't like songs I don't like".

I like the way you think.
It was subtle, but I'm glad you picked up on it.
It's the truth though.

Generally I like anything that has a nice melody, nice beats and vocals(if there are any) etc...
But when it comes to genres I mostly like the following: DnB: liquid, minimal and all that softer stuff, but also neurofunk(darkstep) dubstep: not the dubstep most of the world knows - the kinda mainstream dubstep(fcking filthy junk), but instead liquid, also minimal and the more melodic stuff ambient: i don't have many of it in my list, but it's good sometimes rock: I don't like all of it, but some metal and metalcore songs are very cool, there are also very good songs from other subgenres, but I don't know all of those subgenres hardcore(techno): maybe some speedcore as well, the melodic kind.
Basically I can listen to any genre because two songs from the same genre can be very different.

certainly not true. if that was true you could remove other instruments and the song would still be either good or not good just based on the singer. how many songs are defined by riffs or hooks from instruments alone? sweet home alabama? crazy train? sweet child o mine again? smells like teen spirit? smoke on the water? back in black? voodoo child? aint talkin bout love? plug in baby? layla? samba pa ti?
what about classical music which mostly never contained vocals at all? what about instrumentalist music?
everyone has a voice... not everyone can play an instrument well enough to create a classic all time great song.
here is an example of an amazing song with no lyrics.

Rawr brings up a point though...
I despise country music with a passion. There is not a single song I've heard that I enjoy
I don't understand why a lot of our generation dislikes country music. Maybe I'm a bit biased as I've grown up in a country town but I think its one of the more raw and pure genres. Although it's usually quite simplistic, just a guitar and someone singing, it focuses highly on the lyrics and conveys, in some cases, a quite profound message. I don't understand what all the hatin' is all 'bout.
Below is my favourite country song of all time. It's by Kasey Chambers, who I know many dislike, but the song has a powerful message and it always seems to remind me of home. Give it a chance

Spoiler!
I don't know what it is about country. I want to say it's the drawl and how the vocals are effected by that that just doesn't appeal to me.

On a serious note I do listen to a lot of different genres, my music collection is all over the place. I've got everything from rap, pop, dubstep, hardstyle, rock, metal, and everything in between, a genre doesn't mean much to me.
I live near Nashville, TN, the center of country music. I hear it for 8 hours a day at work, it gets old pretty fast. The stations play a lot of the older country music that I was forced to listen to in the car back when I lived in Chicago... 13 years ago.
Aside from that, I just don't country's typical slow paced, repetitive, depressing vibe that talks about nothing but alcohol and women. <- It's the southern version of rap.
I can tolerate country music all day... until Miranda Lambert or Taylor Swift comes on..
