i have a pure STR archer (lvl 30) , i have pretty good bow and learned fire imbue but my damage is still really low compare to other classes and i was wondering why would anyone be STR archer when a nuker does much higher damage and has pretty good range? and is it true that STR archers are really bad for PVE? if its true, i would rather start a new character as a spear INT nuker and do 2x more damage cause all they lack is health which can be solved using alchemy.

More damage than a blader, especially with the Pacheon buff/passive. I've found PVE far more enjoyable and quicker with a bow...

I think str glaive's lvl faster than str bow's. And if u wt lvl faster then go int spear. And str bow's dont do good in pvp, much better and less sp farm with str glaive.
So either go str fire glaive - less sp farm. good pvp.
Or int spear fire light - more sp farm. not very good at pvp. fast killing.

are pure STR archers good for PVE? Also wouldnt INT archers be good in the long term due to the new alchemy system that allows you to increase your health ?

I kept hearing that int archers are a joke...and yes, pure str archers still do more dmg than pure str bladers

Archers rely on crits int = less crit damage. int archer = pointless

right, thanks for the tips. One last question, does archers get owned by other classes in higher levels?

Archers are underated due to their low marks in PvP. Back when I was an archer I had the highest combat points out of anyone in my guild. Archers kicks serious ass in job / guild wars. Also trade runs are much easier with a strong archer who can antidevil bow+arrow combo dead a npc thief of the same level.

Archer does more damage than STR bladers and I didnt have a problem with bladers at all when I was an archer. However, as an archer you should wear armor or protector because you will have a prolonged fight with glaviers and bladers since your damage is lower in single person pvp you want to be able to take on that extra glavie damage and take the stab after the KD by bladers.

Or maybe you just stfu about what builds thats acceptable and which isnt, and let people play what they like?

the game is about fun not about owning people at higher lvls. :)

I enjoy being pure str glavie, (well im farming my new char atm so... yeah... lol) so whatever. If you wanna go bow, then stay bow, like Huy said, they are definitely great in jobs/wars. :)

My hybrid int nuker took on archers even a few lvls above me, and i never had any good items. :P

STR ARCHER:
PVE - Fast Grinder (No movement, range ftw~~ also easy on the fingers [antidev+combo])
Job/Group Wars - (You don't use a bow like a glaive, you snipe people out, and help out the people who do have them)
1V1 - INT killer- 1or 2 crits and that nuker is down. Bladers/Glaivers will always get you with their KD/Block or Knockback/Stun, so the only STR battles you'll win is people who just suck at your lvl)
Support system- Back up your fellow guildie in a Guild War and get those crits in so he can finish them off while picking off the nukers from a distance.

Again, 1vs1 archers at my lvl against glaives is basically a done deal for me. Bladers sometimes go down in a few lucky succession of crits.

Hey I can still kill a glaiver if i zerk AND crit :D .

heres an interesting point:

I am a hybrid fire bow wearing protector. I once did a 1on1 with someone in my level, he was also fire bow wearing garment, but pure str. our bows were also very similar, but I beat him every time, because I made more damage. ok idk what armor he had it might have been worse than mine but I thought until then that I messed up my int/str distribution, but I'm happy with my hybrid fire bow char now ;)

Adding int doesn't affect the amount you crit it effects the damage added from your crit. A crit is 2x phys damage. Adding int points lowers your phys damage compared to a pure str, therefore less crit damage.

yes, i am aware of how a crit works, i am just wondering how often and if the dmg is still good for a hybrid archer.

the frequency at which you crit depends totally on the weapon, not str or int. check your weapons crit rating, 2 would mean a 2% chance of a critical hit, 10 = 10% chance. my bow has 9 which is quite good.

ok basically I am an almost pure 50/50 hybrid, but I am building more str (+3 to str at each lvl up) because of obvious reasons. If I had the choice I would have gone for a 2:1 str:int hybrid from the beginning, but to reach lvl40 takes too long for me to start over again, and I don't play that much (basically I have been working on this char since march this year :p )

i've also been thinking about hybrids too, because when u cap your level, the imbue will add small portion to your dmg, but if u added INT your imbue will do alot more dmg, so, pure strength might do 100% physical dmg, while hybrid STR would do 60% physical dmg + 50% magical damage, adding 10% more damage. Am i right or am i wrong?
