For me I am dead tired of character leveling and being forced to do quests in order to progress... I'd love a game where you just level up the skills you've acquired as that makes more sense. NPC quests doesn't give experience but rather items of value. Like skill books, weapons, gear, gold etc....
You could explore the world to find all these things as well so you're not shackled to towns and NPCs. You're character becomes powerful simply from leveling its skills. You equip a set amount of skills of your choosing and they are leveled by simply using them... The more you use them the more developed they become which makes you more powerful...You can swap them out with other skills you find, mix and match to find good combinations...
Also you can wear whatever gear you want and brandish any weapon you want (pending you have the skill to use that weapon) as long as you have the gold to buy it or crafting skills to make it. And it doesn't matter if you're a newbie or veteran player. You could look just as cool. Finally a huge world with tons of places to explore and lose yourself for days in adventure. Thats my ideal mmorpg....

1. Mid rate exp. I've grown so tired of hardcore grinding. 2. Nothing involving sp farming. What sick fuck even thought of such a horrible idea? 3. An actual story (Dragon Nest has a story as you progress, not a side quest story, a real main story which differs depending on the class you pick but still ties in to a main story). 4. Instances. I like doing my own thing without crowds or depending on others. 5. Pretty clothes, often the motivator of most if not all mmos (I'm a girl, gimmie a break). 6. Always a PvE option. Not a carebear, I just dislike drama and confrontation. 7. Characters that have dramatic differences in appearance, not all boring same race characters. 8. Something different then pretty fantasy, asian, generic places. I want to see gore, places that make you think "holy shit what happened here". ie, L2's Devil's Pass, Execution Grounds. All areas in Requiem.
<<I'd sell my soul to whoever for a Requiem: Memento Mori ps with higher rates (Currently no ps of any kind exist)>>
Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken.
The biggest thing for me in an MMO is, does it flow?
Was discussing this the other night in vent, but one of the amazing things about silkroad is that it just "flowed" so effortlessly. Instead of spamming 5-7 skills to kill one mob, you could easily flow between a horde of them, doing sweet aoe damage and looking like a bamf.
Most MMO's fail in this area. They're just like "hurp durp spam 5-7 buttons than run 5-10 seconds to find the next mob".
- Very high player freedom of movement like in Blade & Soul, where you can wallrun and glide through the air. - A heavy focus on platforming and environmental interraction. - hard puzzles. Some would hopefully even require parties to solve. - Tough, intelligent mobs. - A combat system similar to streetfighter, that empowers the skilled players.

Any MMORPG with the same skill point model as Skyrim.
You like using 2 handed weapons? Okay, the more you use it, the more skill points we'll give you to invest into it. It makes me extremely sad that TESO doesn't do this.
Sure do with there was an mmo I enjoyed out atm. Been wanting to play something. But most everything I try I just don't really like. Makes me feel like Stan in that South Park episode where everything he sees and hears is shit lol.
Lot of quests, having a main story quest that progresses the entire game upto the cap would be nice. Plenty of repeatable ones, but not enough to level you completely. And the exp slope would be much smaller. So if like a level needed 9 million exp, the next wouldn't need 15 mill >.>, but rather just a little over 9mill again. If a level takes days to achieve I don't want the next few lvls taking weeks. lol.
I would agree to have lots of stuff in the world besides just monsters though. I often run around a world in an mmo and see just open pretty areas and monsters, and nicely made buildings or something, but it's just for looks.
I want lots of different builds. More skills then you can use, so you need to pick which ones to use, then maybe depending on where you are, switch. Same cooldown could be shared for some so you can't use certain ones together I guess.
Also a must is elemental attributes. Fire, water, earth etc. Adding fire to your weapon would totally make you do more dmg to ice/plant attribute enemies but then less dmg to fire ones etc.
Stats like Str, Con, Dex, Int and things like that to put points in.
I think it would be cool to make skills changeable in some way too. Like in the same way you lvl up a a certain class then you usually have 2 classes later on. Some skills could have a couple paths to choose from as they lvl up.
Also agree 100% about wearing what you want. Weapons could have their own skill sets sorta like Sro. I remember thinking that about borderlands 2 cus I totally wanted to use axtons skills but I preferred snipers. So I guess there could be classes with their own skills, then weapons have their own skill trees as well. Could even add some skill trees for elements. IE pick knight/tank, use knight skills, and get some fire attribute in there, combined with wand/shield skills for fire tank with magic dmg? Or pick dagger, be a bit of a tank with faster attacks with holy attribute? Pwn the undead enemies.
Leveling up could give a few class sp to spend on class skills. Weapons could have their own levels that go up as you use them to earn sp for weapon skills. Could earn more sp from quests and things tho too. I think the longer you use something should have an affect as well. Borderlands proficiencies I can think of to compare it too. When you use a certain gun more often there was a passive that went up giving you a tiny bit of dmg %.
Absolutely nothing pay to win. All item mall stuff would be for convenience and cosmetic.
I always liked the idea of duel weapons not being a single item, but rather you equip a weapon in 1 hand, then you can put just about any other 1 handed weapon in the other. So any class can duel wield as well. The second weapon could just give only a little bit of its attack?
Shields wouldn't simply block an attack, but a shield would have a % to block as well as "block defense" on it. So if it has 50 block defense and gets hit for 100 dmg and blocks it, it would block 50 dmg, and you still take 50.
The ability to dodge, or misses for auto attacks and skills.
I thought it would be cool to have weapons/armor that could change as they are used too. Maybe getting so many kills with a weapon could have some kind of affect on it. They should totally have a counter on how many kills its had on it as well lol.
Crafting should be easy and fun. And not simply done by everyone. I think i'd prefer a crafting npc with fairly low success rate, but not shitty. Then have a class specifically tailored to crafting/refining. They could make money by opening a stall which acts an npc to let people craft or + items with better chances/results for higher lvl.
WASD of course >.>, I think for most skills you can still move while attacking. Some skills like aoes could be placed anywhere on the ground and not require a target.
Lots of status affects and attack modifiers. Like burn, freeze, bind, lifedrain, reflect, stuff like that.
Holy jesus DJ you went all out....You're a man serious about his gaming... But seriously guys..aren't you all tired of level caps and character leveling??...Also being forced to grind 500 fox pelts for some NPC to get "level experience"...Nobody else finds that character leveling is a somewhat nonsensical idea?...Isn't that cookie cutter shit boring by now???..

Tons of weapons types as well. To name a few [spoiler]1 Handed Blades -Sword -Axe -Spear -Dagger -Katar -Whip Blunts -Hammer -Club Magic -Wand Defense -Shield -Book -Bracer -Orb Ranged -Crossbow -guns
I can't really say i'm tired of grinding and questing, thats like the only type of rpg i've played that I can think of. That just seems to be the work part in order to lvl up and get good stuff.
HyperBunny told me she wants an RPG made from Ride to Hell Retribution.
GW2 is pretty close to it. Would be nice if we can run faster, have mounts, jump off and run along walls and have battle mechanics crossed with the likes of Dragon's Nest. Also, more classy light armors for female toons.

The problem with what you're suggesting is that it gives you no time to learn your skills and character as you progress through the levels. While leveling and slowly unlocking skills, you're learning what they do, when to use them, how to use them, etc.
Throwing people into it with all the skills they'll need would end up with a bunch of bads running around who don't know how to play their class

Not implying (or meant to) that you can learn the skills fast or have all the skills right away.... To elaborate more I would love that the game have tons of skills some hidden waiting to be discovered, some you can quest for, some you have to solve a puzzle to get and some you can buy...maybe 100 different type of skills related to archery, same for magic, same for swordplay etc etc..
After acquiring a few skills (you're not required to get and learn them all) its up to you the player to guide/decide the type of fighting/crafting abilities you're character will have and level the ones that will suit that decision...You could even have different skill load-outs for different occasions and situations that you can equip for...
It would be easy to realize that the skills you are testing out while using them isn't good for you as their combination is either too weak or simply not fun to you...You can then try out another set of skills that suit your needs...
This way you are not locked into some predefined skill tree that is reserved for a particular class...There is no class other than the one you define via the skills you have in your load-outs...and you can modify your abilities in the moment if need be (as long as you have the weapon they are associated with)..... This to me is one of many things that would make for a liberating gaming experience...

I hate games like Aion, that have way too many Farking skills. I remember I wasn't even capped on Aion ,but had like 3-4 skill bars full of skills.
Silkroad perfected that. It had enough skills to keep you entertained, yet not too many so that you were overwhelmed.
Funny enough I've played cleric and gunner. They all fit in the first 4 bar of skills and I clicked half of them. Though I'll agree overtime you get overwhelmed with skills which makes it silly at some point, but it does bring out a bit of diversity if they're all balanced. If it isn't then we got cookie cutters everywhere.
