Yeah, activity seems fine to me. Although, I will not be able to really play before May 9th. But by then I'm ready to get to 90! :p

As much as I enjoy this server, I just can't see it lasting much longer. Even if we're being optimistic and saying 50 people are online, that's just not enough. At this point all we're doing is farming tabs and items, once we're done with that and get fully geared (which will probably take weeks because of tabs, and because no one is selling anything due to low population) there is nothing else to do. No Fortress or arenas, no one to pvp with or to war against, there is no end game.

I'll probably keep playing until it dies, which will happen very soon.

Activity seems normal to me as well. It mostly depends when you are online. I'm pretty sure most players are from Europe, so when it's night in Europe there probably won't be much activity.

I do agree with Crowley however. Not sure how long the server will last. The server is great in my opinion, but end game content is very limited.
You can farm the SP you need, farm tablets to make decent gear, do some trades,... but after a while people will get bored with that. Some might already have given up if they don't see the purpose in doing it.

There's also one thing that has left me wondering since the beginning. I just don't see this team making enough money to keep the server running... Their silk price is low and there are only a limited number of useful items in the item mall. You also get 3 silk per hour anyway, so there really isn't any need to buy silk except if you want to support them.
So... 1. Are they super rich? 2. Do they have an ulterior motive? 3. Will it close when they realise they can't keep it running?

yeah i'm not sure what to do about the end game, there's always guild wars and everything but without a fortress theres no real competition betweeen guilds anyway right? i just dunno... job wars maybe but i dont even know how the jobbing is on this server

your guys thoughts on endgame are so funny, specially considering the most active this game has ever been was before it had this so called endgame content you're talking about haha

The grind to cap is the game, along with some bonus content once you get there. And that's fine, partying is some of the most fun I have in sro, but the problem is with 20x rates (or whatever) it takes less than a week to get capped and farmed.

Yes, for me endgame is also just levelling my character and getting it FF. For some reason, which I still haven't figured out, I always enjoyed that and would start getting bored once I reached that goal. I don't really have any interest in PvP content, except for trade runs (in group).

I was just referring to endgame in general for others who actually enjoy PvP.

Hmmm, that's unfortunate... but to be expected if your main advertising thread is on ePvP, a community that only knows how to bot and cheat.

They kinda need to wipe now, but that would likely cause a lot to stop.

P.S.: Abusing exploits is not allowed in guild.

I honestly think there's no coming back from this. If they can fix the dupe bug, they either have to wipe the server or do a massive rollback. Both options will most likely cause everyone or almost everyone to quit. I suggest that those of us who still want to play together find a new server to play on and start fresh there.

This server was really fun, and I hate to see this happen. Anyway, here are some screens.

My guess is relatively few got the dupe working, as you actually need a different sro_client to do it, so I guess they could just delete the duped items? (here's to hoping).

Why would you give up so quickly? Finding a new server is not going to help (unless it's a really good one but these doesn't exist).

Why are you so eager to hang on? This server is dead, face it. On epvp someone posted images of Hottie duping since he was lvl 1, last time I saw him he was lvl 80 or so. Even if they fix the dupe bug, no one is going to play here anymore.

a guy duping elixirs doesn't really bother me, as long as they fixed it by now, the server is really smooth for me i really want it to work out.. Everyone I've met is really nice, i even met someone who is playing silkroad for only the 2nd time, his other char was only lv 57! we are grinding together now

I wanted to write about end game content of this server. Maybe it's too late already, but I'll post this anyway.

Actually, this is the thing I was talking about since the start.
Content offered by this server:
PVE: solo hunting and PT hunting, nothing else! Instance dungeons (such as forgotten world, jupiter temple etc) are not available.
PVP: only CTF and job wars are possible. I personally don't like CTF because it is rather individual competition, and not PT, but maybe this can be changed. Job wars are possible, but requires more people lv 90, FF, and with items. Maybe more online players needed as well. For now, there are no job ptpvp fights.
Fortress war, BA, SA are not available.

So yeah, end game content is really limited.
But I think this server could be played, if:
1. There is decent number of people who are lv 90 and have items to be able to play ptpvp.
2. CTF is changed into PT competition and rewards winner team, not personal kills.
3. Events such as 5 vs 5 PTpvp tournaments are organized by GM team on regular basis. Like TBG in jsro, but more often.
4. Total number of online players is higher, so job wars are not rare.
5. People that aren't dumb and up for playing ptpvp because it's fun, even if it's not giving any special rewards.

Just wanted to warn you guys that my router was hijacked some time recently and I just noticed now. I'm not pointing the finger at this server, but the only potentially unclean files I run have to do with Silkroad private servers. Since this is one of the few I tried recently, I figured I'd post a warning.

Check your router's configuration. Make sure the configured DNS servers are ones you trust. Mine had been changed, which would cause me to get redirected to unwanted sites. This only seemed to affect Mac or Safari users on my network though, which is why I didn't notice it right away.



Now about the server's current status. The duping problem obviously is huge and the server might not come back. If it does come back (and the problem is fixed), I will give it another go (even if everything is wiped). This server is/was a lot better than most out there. Always had good contact with the staff, people were actually playing, most people were friendly, server never had any major downtime, inspections/server reboots were always over quickly, etc...

I'm surprised that server team didn't know about duplication bug. For so long time. They could find out from logs or find a way to monitor abnormal activity. I don't know details. Someone from my guild tried to dupe to see if it works, but GM contacted him immediately. So I guess they could notice such attempts, but maybe that dupe bug is different.



Looks like someone was using dupe bug since lv 1. Long time ago. That means a few days rollback won't be enough, complete wipe and server reopening? If so, this will really cause a lot of people to leave. Let's wait for next message from server team.

Unique event. This reminds me that I had a lot of suggestions, but didn't post any. It was removal auto select, ideas about 5 vs 5 ptpvp tournament, change of immolation ress and maybe bless spell, CTF, etc...

I made a pt at Guards to help some people with level up.
Conversation you can read in white chat is funny - someone went afk for long time and then getting surprised why he was kicked.
Btw, Hottie is also in this PT.

Actually, they DID monitor dupe bug activity, but this bug involved using a different, modified, SRO_CLIENT, which was why they couldn't log it - apparently.

Anyway, from Yuckie and Timbo's comments it seems like they will be able to track the duped items and remove them. In that case, a rollback wouldn't be necessary

hmmm, sounds interesting but THERE NEEDS TO BE couple changes to make the server more appealing to invite players

for instance sox throughout the first degrees or whatever, i asked this to the GM and he told me in reply: "It's so fast to lvl, you don't need it!" wich totally misses the point ~.~ lol
