In raikirii's fine nuker guide I noticed it was said wolves are useless for nukers. Is that quite true? cant they hold mobs still while you nuke?

Wolves are usefull for any build IMO. If you are a pure int then you already have low HP so if 4 mobs spawn around you, chances are that you will get 2 on you, and 2 on your wolf which could get you out of a sticky situation.

whether ur tanker or nuker, wolves r useful to all, just mayb more useful to tankers. besides, if u dont use ur wolf as an attack weap, u can always use it as ur tanker cus they have high hp:p

to be honest the best fucntion mine serves is to aggro mobs for me and to keep them from hitting me. My wolf is like a meat shield.

That's the way to do it. Also, a wolf helps by doing enough extra damage to keep you from using an additional skill at times, which can save more pots.

perfect grind for a nuker, as mentioned in Fly's guide, that you kill mobs that u can kill with 1 nuke, thus by the time your wolf gets to teh mob, its already dead
but as mentioned before, wolf can get some mobs off ya

If your wolf is high enough that the attack really don't register on the bar send it at one while you attack a different one.
Then after you kill that one you could.
A. Help the wolf kill it
or
B. Go after a different mob.

Wolfs suck IMO.
Why? They cost alot in maintaince(spelling?). So instead of paying that 1m wich soon will grow to 2, 3, 4, 5m buy a better wep so u can 1 shot those mobs.
Usefull for pure str's. Wouldnt use one though.

My lvl 64 wolfie barely costs me anything for maintenance. It rarely dies, i use about 30-50 xl recovery kits per 2-4 hours grinding (depending on the mob i decide to fight), the odd HGP potion. I think the benefit outweights the cost, as long as you dont neglect it.
Besides, its nice not having to get off my ox during trade runs, lol...i just let wolfie take care of everything
PS: I WISH it only cost me 5 mil for a weapon that will 1 shot my mobs

yeah for luring and nukers not all the time can 1 nuke or 2 skills kill mob.. having wolf as lvling companions not bad at all.. if u r farming with large gaps then the maintenence u might suffer abit only on HGP.. overall it is gud having wolf while lvling..

yes, its very good for lvling and making monsters aggro like you all said. im a nuker and if i dont feel like finishing off orange mobs i switch to the next one while my wolf takes care of the rest of the HP i left with the other mob.
therefore you waste less manna (meaning you dont have to use another active attack). so imo wolves are very VERY useful and would consider geting one. and honestly, i dont think they cost that much, cuz if your wolf is strong in hp you dont have to worry bout its health, only the HGP crap...

Hunger pills are cheap and at low levels they level fast enough to not use them.
I don't use pots on mine (or barely) only pills due to frigging scrops who like poison a bit too much.

i think wolves are great for pure int cuz it can tank or save ur life if mobs charge at you, maybe they will attack the wolf instead of you. which will save you that 2%, which at higher lvls takes a long ass time with no GT.
but its great for a blader when grinding, that extra lil dmg alwayz helps
bladers lvl slow as it is, wolf helps a bit
when i trade i send my wolf to kill my npc thieves, unless its double spawn. speeds up the process.

wolves r a WOW for bladers when we grind. i makes that slow, painful process alot faster:) thus, we dont have to endure that regular painstaking few hours.

Im pure INT and I try to grind on mobs that take a little more than 1 nuke to kill, then while the wolf finishes it off, I go to another mob saving a lion shout. But I would agree that they aren't very useful for pure INT as the damage compared to yours is really lame.

they do that quite a bit... for those mobs you cant quite one shot, the wolf does wonders

If you are able to kill a monster in one or two hits as a nuker (before you wolf reaches him), the wolf probably isn't worth the 1 million gold, health pills, food pills, and reviving him if he dies. I think it would only be useful for PvP, but not many people use their wolf in PvP. If, however, you aren't so fast at killing monsters, a wolf would be pretty good.

nukes take time to charge, withing that time, ur wolf is allready biting in the mob's ass.
To sum it all up: Wolfs are in my belive even essential for mobs. The thing really saves my ass in cave now.
