i saw a skill for blade which u can increase blocking by 10%.

I was wondering how much blocking % in the shield since they are many(10-19 block ratio). anyone knows? I heard that 18 blocking ratio shield can block alot. so like how many blocks can a player do?

lets say for 10 attacks how many will the player able to block?(dont consider the skill pls only the shield block ratio)

one would think that shield blocking ratios are out of 100%. thus, a shield w/ block 10 would block 1 in 10 shots, or 10 in 100. a shield with 18 block, then, would block 1.8 in 10 shots, or 18 in 100.

this is clearly NOT the case, however, as higher block shields block annoyingly often (:P). the only conclusion is that the blocking ratios on shields increase their chances of blocking an attack exponentially as the number rises.

as a spear user, i have no way to test this. anyone have any data?

here's my guess. this is a really hard one to test, so it could be wrong, but it sounds good ^^

okay it can't be a straight %, since an 18-19 block will block more than 2x what a 10 block will. also, ther'es nothing lower than 10 BR i've ever seen. this makes me think it is something exponential, but with certain caps so it's not way too low or way too high. my best guess is:

(BR^2) / 1000

meaning:

10 - 10%
11 - 12%
12 - 14%
13 - 17%
14 - 20%
15 - 23%
16 - 26%
17 - 29%
18 - 32%
19 - 36%

btw, those are rounded to nearest %

does this sound even close to anyone else? i've never seen a shield do worse than 1/10 blocking, or better than 1/3 consistently, so this way it spans that gap nice and neat.

i think that would be a little too good of a ratio cause there is still shield mastery that adds 6-7% at lvl 60 and will still go up
cause 26% is already 68% to blk in ure scenario

i test it last nite...

with 16 / 17 and 19 block shields... also i got %2 shield block rate passive buff.

well here is the result

all of them tested by horses/ meek erth ghosts... each shield is 24 lvl random +2 ~ +4

16 block ( +4 shield ) ( + options dosent effect any blcok percantage ) blocked each 6 hits.. tis mean 5 hit and 1 block

17 ( +2 ) as same as 16... 5 hit 1 blcok

here is the miracle of 19 block ( +3 )... 3 hit and 1 block.. each time...

thanks for testing that Tut, even though its not really precise information.... atleast it gives us a general idea of what that block rate is... keep in mind he has a %2 block as well :)

Well tut had a good idea. Anyone want to find a bunch of 10, 15, and 18 shields (low mid hi) and let a mob of their level pound on them for a few hundred hits? :D

If it turns out that Geo's theory is right, it looks like it'd be better to have a lvl 21 18 block shield (57.8% blocking with passive maxed) than a lvl 41 15 block (44.1% blocking)...unless of coures the lvl 41 has enough defense on it to reduce all damage by 13%.

so how are people coming up with these numbers?
Quote:
lvl 21 18 block shield (57.8% blocking with passive maxed) than a lvl 41 15 block (44.1% blocking)

Quote:

with my theory a shield with 18BR and maxed passive would only give a 44% chance, 32 from the shield and 12 from passive.

and i'm not sure HOW spurs got 68% from what i posted. to clarify my earlier post, the number on the left is the shield's BR, and on the right is the % it gives. and like i said, it's only a theory, but i still don't see how people are pulling those numbers from it. maybe i'm missing something?

I got it by adding the two together before multiplying, which makes qiute a bit of difference. And judging from some of the NPC theives, 60% block is probably on the low end. ;p

i honestly think the npc thieves are bugged to be so damn blockful, but that's just my opinion. maybe they really did want them to be retardedly hard, lol.

but i'm not sure i've ever heard of any player character that could block 2/3's of the time, and that would be any lvl 60 with a decent shield.

not sure if they would add together before multiplying or not though. if so, then my numbers would be WAY off.

ure theory was
br^2/1000
19br+7br from passives=26br^2=676/1000=67.6%
