Lets set aside BiggieFly's guide for a moment, and have some opinions from people who are actually playing full int chars... biggie suggests going to 20 mastery in sword AND spear... but how many of you are going this route?

im not a full INT character, but its basically if you want the imbue or not. When you go full INT, it doesn't matter what spear or sword skills you get, they will still be weak (unless it was like a level 432432 SOS item). The full INT is mostly nuke based, and that is where the SP should be going (magic not physical)

i don't see the point in having level 20 sword, i find pacheon a lot more useful for me, because i can increase my range and attack rating, which helps with dealing my highest range more regularly, and farther from my opponent... but that's just me.

Full int can use whatever they see with most mag dmg...
Since that's what is most important to them.
As for me I need heuksal moves, because I'm hybrid int.

Answered 3.
Actually, I have bicheon lvl 30 and heuksal lvl 20, and going lightning/fire for the nukes.
I'm using my sword skills less often, now that I have the nukes (I'm lvl 36, full int, sword/shield).
But I have used them a lot until lvl 33-34.
Maybe I have wasted SP... But it helped me killing lots of monsters, so its probably not that bad ^^

well the deal is that you don't need mastery to use weapons, but the passives in both bicheon and heuskal are both very useful, moreso if you could up them past level 2. After giving it some thought i think i will stick with the 20/20 sword/spear for the following strategy(might even remove spear completely later, so i can go 150 fire 130 light and 20 bicheon):
You can put weapons into quick slots for quick changes, so you line up your skill bar like this:
Spear/Imbue/Fire Nuke/Lightning Nuke/Sword/Shield/Knockdown
Following those in order will equip spear, imbue, nuke, then switch to sword/shield and knockdown. Maybe add another imbue in there if it won't last long enough... my strategy is going to be dual nuke, wait for them to get in range, swing away with knockdown over and over till they fall, then run back and try to nuke again.. because it takes awhile to get back up, should be enough time to set up another series of nukes.
My next question is will the nukes recycle fast enough for this to work for me? How long is the recycle on nukes? with the switch and waiting for knockdown that should equal up to quite a bit of time(assuming i'm still alive of course).

Here's my last post about the subject, comparing to other mmos i've played, and i've played most, everyone always said that mages suck in pvp(unless it's one of the few games that are completely unbalanced). I've played mages in those games including the most recent, WoW. In wow i could kill shamans(which were way overpowered against caster) 3/5 times, and their jaws would always drop. I'd go out into pvp territory and totally own mostly everyone, why? Because the people who said mages suck were the same people who just stood there if their target didn't drop after first barrage, and got owned once in melee range. My mage never got caught... at least VERY rarely.. and i owned with him even though everyone was saying they suck... this is a symptom of every mmo i've played... Any character sucks against other characters if the player sucks at playing the game.... that's my closing arguement... some day i'll show all those armor advocates what's up...
Priorities:
1. Stay out of melee range
2. Stay out of melee range
3. Stay out of melee range
4. Nuke
5. Stay out of melee range
6. Last, but not least, Stay out of melee range
LOL Even if this involves one nuke and the rest of the time running, eventually the opponent will slip up and let you get your second one in, or he'll just stand there and let you kill him because
a> he used all his pots from your ranged assaulting or
b> he's tried, can't catch you, and can't get away and figures he might as well quit to escape, or just let you kill him to get it over with.
Another side note: your oponnent will run out of hp pots long before you run out of mana, mana pots give more points per pot than hp, your spells put out ALOT of dmg for the points they do use, stack that with 20% mana reduction use on garment, and you've got an inevitable win, even if it takes 2 hours... and i don't know about you, but that's agreeable for a 3+ star trader...

that depends on your magic/physical balance completely. the higher your physical balance, the more HP pots will give you, same with magic.
my HP pots do WAY more than my MP ones.
of course, you're completely right about a nuke doing more damage than it costs in MP though, i just thought i'd point that out, for any that might not know.
oh, and i happen to agree with you mostly. personally, i use prot's, but then again, i'm no wimpy mage >.>

im a sword+shield user and i found no point in putting 20 into spear, it just adds 200hp and it wont save u at later lvls, even when i switch to a spear to nuke i dont need any spear skills
in pvm wat a spear can kill in 1hit a sword+shield can kill in 1nuke+1shout so not really that noticable
in pvp the extra def and blk can save ure life more than the extra dmg ure trying to deal, no point having a very strong nuke when ure dead on the floor and cant nuke

i'm not voting, because it never mentioned anything about ice, which i use for my pure int noob, but i only use spear. Overall, when you're fighting real humans in teams, (eg. hunters vs thieves), as long as there's a strength tanker out there, and he/she goes out first, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. They take the damage, and you do your best damage on them. What use is a shield, when it's still a couple of hits and you're dead?
For example, 2 high lvls are fighting a strength and a pure int. Your friend can only last so long before he's dead. Then you're next after that, and even with that shield, you still don't have enough hp to tank. Instead of getting hit, kill the enemy before they kill your friend, and your friend will be able to tank a little more, so you can kill before you're killed. Offense is the best defense

Well since you're pure INT you're not suppose to tank at all. A shield with a high block rate and a bit of luck, you can survive a couple of deadly blows which will allow you to run away till you have range to nuke again.

every block on a sst or knockdown can mean an extra nuke
having a few more 3k nukes with sword+shield is usually better than having a few 4k spear nukes
in the 2v2 scenario the 2 can always change the target from ure tanking friend to u

Staying out of melee range is a good thing on the paper, but when you're in game grinding on aggro mobs, you quickly see that it's not that easy.
When you fight a giant or even a champion, you are in melee range. When you have aggro mobs popping, you are often in melee range.
Even if you nuke very hard, you will always be hit.
I'm using a shield, and I wouldn't remove it even for a free +8 spear ^^
It has saved me quite often (especially in the past weeks with the lag) and I just die 2 or 3 x less than my friends Int / Spear.
And for PvP... it's just great

once you get your nuke at lev 30... always get +3 weapons, then find the highest level monster you can one hit KO, or one nuke+imbune+1 hit that's two hits in total... more than 2 hits... too slow for a nuker.. your health will suffer
tha'ts the best suggestion i have...
