CrimsonNuker is implying that you are a white kid who wants to be Japanese, much in the same way that the Icy Hot Stuntazz are white guys who want to desperately want to be a black stereotype.
And he's probably right.

Wanting to have a cool-looking sword = wanting to be Japanese? Yeeeah. But really no.

The only reason most people think those swords are cool is because they come from some form of Japanese pop culture.
Honestly, there is nothing spectacular or elegant about the first sword. It looks like it's wrapped with cheap nylon and is ugly.
The sword from Advent Children is cheap gimmick and an eyesore. The replica isn't even accurate to the movie.

Most people don't give two shits about Japanese pop culture. They like Bleach because it's flashy and cool. They like ninjas and samurai because ninjas and samurai are exotic and exciting. They like Final Fantasy because it was a good game. You're reading too much into the situation so you can turn around and comment on how other people are such posers because this is how small, unenviable people boost their self-image. How's that for a bit of psychoanalysis?

Ad hominid much?
Just because you want to attack me personally doesn't make what I said any less valid.
Secondly, the way you sprang into a rage over a comment not even directed towards you implies that perhaps you saw something in it that reminded you of yourself.
Third, you didn't even attempt to refute my comment on why they like they swords, and instead tried to defend the otaku/Japanophile phenomenon. If you can honestly say that most people you know who watch anime do so for each individual show's merit and will not watch it just because it's anime, then I envy the demographic that you live amongst.
For the record:
-I think Bleach is lame.
-Final Fantasy 7 was a good game, and I enjoyed the movie. However, I still believe the sword from Advent Children was stupid.
-Ninja are at their best when they are flipping out and wailing on guitars.
-The samurai in general were among the most bigoted and oppressive people who ever walked the earth. Anyone who does a little reading on them will find that there is little about them to respect that cannot be found in another culture.
-If anyone was not aware, this is what Japanophilia has created:
For shame, Bakemaster. I was under the impression that you were one of the few people on this forum who had any sense of reason. I thank you for ridding me of that delusion.

i have a sword at home which really does suit my living
room. its an old rusty sword with one sharp side and my
dad bought it in france when he was about my age. I
dont have the sword because i want to impress people
or because i want to chop off heads. But be honest..
almost every guy has a point in life where he wants a
sword - and then it doesnt matter if you watch japanese
anime, kill bill or braveheart. anything with swords is
good.
i myself am not a real big fan of the elegant thin japanese
swords. im more the one that likes big blades to not only
slice but also crush. and no i do not practice that on my
beloved cats.

This from a guy who just accused me of "ad hominid".
Sprang into a rage? Why, because I said "shit"? Because I belittled you by implication? You know enough about pop psychology to accuse me of projecting (albeit not by name) and yet you fail to point out the obvious irony. Oh well, at least you get points for not calling me a hypocrite.
Now that we've got the requisite intellectual posturing out of the way, let me point out a few things. I am not defending any "otaku/Japanophile phenomenon" but rather calling bullshit on your claim that "most people" only like those swords because they are part of this "otaku/Japanophile phenomenon". I neither deny the existence of the fad nor defend it. I don't condemn it either except insofar as it is a fad and is silly as fads tend to be.
Swords are cool for the same reason that guns and motorcycles and spaceships are cool. There is also a rising awareness of Japanese culture in the Western world which is a result mainly of the rising popularity of anime in mainstream culture, and to a lesser extent, gaming and robotics. This awareness has an influence which extends far beyond that of your "otaku/Japanophile phenomenon". I love how pretentious that phrase is, by the way.
So. The basic attraction of young males to weaponry combined with the rising awareness of Japanese culture in the Western world is a perfectly legitimate explanation for "people [thinking] those swords are cool". These same people don't generally go around wearing kimonos and wooden sandals. Some of them do, of course, and those people you're welcome to put into your lovely category with the pretentious title. But the vast majority are not motivated by a desire to assimilate Japanese culture. They just like swords. They likely played with broadswords and such when they were younger and now they are into Eastern weaponry because it is less familiar, more exotic, and it's what they see on Adult Swim.
Happy now? For the record, I still think you're being pretentious and putting other people down to boost your ego, but I don't really hold it against you. I've done the same thing. It's common and most people grow out of it eventually. I don't do it much any more. Now I stick to putting down other budding intellectuals when they do it to the defenseless. I'll give you a cookie if you can tell me whether that's irony or hypocrisy. Either way it's a hell of a lot more fun when you do it to people who are smart but think they're smarter, just like you once were.
Oooh, now I'm getting reeeeally pretentious. I could keep going but I believe in a little mystery in life. Figure out the rest on your own.

I don't want to talk to you because you hurt my feelings. (I am only saying this because it is what you want to hear)
Let there be no misunderstanding: I AGREE that there is a natural tendency for males to like weaponry and see nothing abnormal or wrong in that. However, I am capable realizing the swords show in the first post are simply retarded. They are almost certainly non-functional, and definitely cheaply crafted. Someone hinted at a possibility that OP likes them based on the premise that he is "wapanese". I agreed with that sentiment because I cannot see how any reasonable person, even with the natural male penchant for dangerous toys, would like those swords based solely on their own merit.
It's okay to get ornery from time to time, Bakemaster, so I forgive you. Let's have a sleep over and braid eachother's hair.

I'm not trying to hurt your feelings, and even if I was you don't strike me as someone who'd get all emo if he got dissed by the bmoc. I'm just trying to say things that will confuse you for now and maybe come to make sense later. It's altruism, honestly. I'm like a saint. For anyone biting their nails, I really don't give a crap about what some random guy on the internet has to say, and I assume Bakemaster feels the same way. At this point we're just having good, clean fun with eachother.
