I'm sure the situation would have been so much better if you'd been on the case. You have maybe magic powers?

Or maybe, I would lock down the school and send s much firepower as I can in there to kill him.

Right now the details are not clear.

Edit: Were the cops notified? When did they actually get there? Were they trying to negotiate, soften the guy down? All I read is two hours later, he went into shooting in the halls. When did he lock down the doors?

Bottom line is it's a flaw in the process, not a flaw in the idea.

Actually, from what they said in the news confence, they recieved information at 7:15, but called the alert hours later.

2 people where shot first, but 30 were shot later.

That's exactly you shouldn't sell weapons to anyone, so easily.

If guns are banned then Psycho wont make rampage in schools...

Hard to stab 31 persons as fast as with a gun, dont you think?

Eh i agree on this :(

EDIT

what's sad is that it is NOT the first time that this happens (Columbine, etc) and they can still do it....Why? I dont live in US so i dont know everything that happens there but they should change something

Like I said, if not a gun than something else. Hard to stab 31 people, sure but that's not the only weapon available to Mr. Psycho. Banning guns wouldn't stop anyone from killing people, and would most likely not prevent things like this from happening.

Selling a firearm to someone isn't easy. There's a background check, people with X amount of felonies can't purchase weapons, and stuff like that. It differs from state to state. There's also waiting periods and plenty of paperwork to fill out. I would know, I own two rifles. It's not as simple as picking one off a shelf, paying, and going on your merry way.

Man this just keeps getting worse and worse. It's pretty sad.

Just to note: 33 is the total including the shooter, who killed himself. So it's actually 32 innocent lives lost, that one.. bastard.

something called straw purchase

like how the two kids at columbine got their shotguns. Its fairly easy to make a deal with some guy who has guns for purchase.

The cops were on campus right after the 1st shooting at the dorm.
One student reported that as of 9:00am there was no word on the PA system about a shooting.
The second round of shootings occurred at 9:15am. And emails were sent out about the 1st shooting at 9:26am.
School was shut down at 10:04am

33 dead in VA Tech shooting from denverpost.com
Timeline: Va. Tech Shooting from Fox 13, Utah

The thing that worries me is that the police were ON CAMPUS and let 31 people die. I'm not a cop nor have I ever even been to Virginia, but that just doesn't sit right with me.

First of all, this should not be a debate nor should it be political. People died today. Many people were injured and 33 are confirmed dead. One of them being my friend and coworker. I'm a student and an employee at Virginia Tech and I can't tell you how many people I know that are being affected by this. This is just a horribly senseless act. This is no one's fault and this should not be boiled down to something so simple as more guns/less guns. People did what they could today and people are still suffering. Many of the family members have not even been informed of their child or sibling's death. Have a little respect for the vicitims and families. If you pray, then pray with us. If you don't believe in prayer, then keep us in your thoughts.

Thank you for stating that. I wanted to say it, but didn't feel it would do any good coming from me.

But I really feel for you and the other students and faculty at Va Tech.

From one college student to another, be strong.

Heard this on the news this morning. At first I didn't seem to believe it because there was very little coverage at first. I guess it seemed like a shock to me that something like this happened. But now it's sinking in and I feel depressed all of a sudden. Being a college student and having a brother in college too makes me a little worried about my brother (He goes to a different college than me) after this.

if bush actualy opened his eyes to the world, he would realise he needs to help with global warming, and to do something about ..... gun crime, bush deserves to burn in hell.
im terribly sorry , and have dire sympathy for the families involved, but if you ask me, they had it coming

there should be more security in schools, or a least ban unlicenced guns

You have to be 21 to own a gun. They're taking their parents or buying them illegally. Don't blame this on our laws.

Which is why buying guns from just "some guy" is illegal. In most states just having an unregistered gun is enough to put you in jail. See how this works now?

Oh, I can't even begin to understand the immense loss that the family and friends will feel. Everyone at the local college was very jumpy today, and no one really felt like learning. This is NOT a matter of guns/no guns, but it was a time to have a different view on the situation.

Well it was mostly i play silkroad who came in here talking about how "messed up we are" etc.. Putting aside the fact he's 13 and doesn't even live in this country...
Anyway. I'm sure everyone offers their condolences to friends/family of people there, but in the heat of the moment we all got carried away.

This is so horrible... :( It's worse than the Columbine high school massacre. Hold on to your loved ones and friends because you'll never know when they'll be gone.
Rest In Peace to all who passed and
May angels lead them in.

if he didnt have the gun, he wouldnt shoot anybody

and its not the fact that you can own firearms, my neighbour has over 16 firearms, but he las a licence t have them, he has permition, your not allowed to buy a gun without a licence, in america, no licence needed, jusy buy one

Your point? I have 7 guns, 2 automatic rifles a AK-74 and a AR15 modded. 3 pistols a SIG .45, .357 magnum, and just a .22 target pistol. 1 pump 12 guage, and a 30-30 lever. but i dont go around shooting people and im American, it has nothing to do with license, with a license someone could snap and thats all that happened. Someone got tired of life or something close and blamed his problems on others. Honestly this story was just hearbreaking, but it didnt shock me hell a couple years ago i watched a guy kill himself. Its nothing new.

I think that firearms should not be sold in America. It takes a lot of rage and hatred to take a knife and stab it into someone, but with a gun, you could kill someone just by pulling a trigger and it isn't influenced as much.
