No you cannot change what each NPC sells. The Blacksmith is called the Blacksmith for a reason. He sells weapons and shields. The Herbalist wouldn't sell pots or horses, or he wouldn't be called the Herbalist. You cannot change that.

As for people covering NPCs with their stall or with a trade transport, there's 2 things you can do:

- buy everything in the stall to close it
- eliminate the staller

:D

Of course u can do that, but it's a lot of work i think.

maybe u can change the place of the npc's (for example by a gate) so all the npc's are by the west gate, but what u want is very hard to make.

btw, its Cruor not Curer :P

no, you cannot change the actual content of the game. as far as i know pk2 editing is basically changing the skin/model in the game. so for example Cruor has repeated changed the look of his attacks, but he cannot change how much damage the attack does.

so i think you can change the npc skins (making the blacksmith looks like the herbalist) but you can't change what the npcs sell or where they are.

Changing the items NPC's sell can be done by editing Media\server_dep\silkroad\textdata\shopitemdata.txt

It's refreshing to see that I could actually buy SoX items at the realistic NPC price. It's also how I was able to spoof a +255 SoSun 64 blade. Unfortunately, it's not server side so no reasonably priced SoX for me. :(

Changing what the shop sells will leave your client in limbo with the server. As far as the server is concerned, your item is still just whatever you changed it from. The client, however, is convinced that you have what you changed it to. If you were to change garments to armor for instance, you would not be able to equip those "armor" pieces with the garments you are wearing, even though they are really garments. If you try something like a gold ticket you get an "item could not be used" error when you try to use it. Equipping the items can be even more confusing, as they will not even be changed to match what the client thinks they are, and will remain as whatever the server has recorded. Logging out and logging back in will change the items to whatever they really are.

man just dc the mofo's that stall on npc's... get a thief suit on.. activate return scroll and then make sure you are inside his stall when the return scroll finishes.. then get back to town.. and your lil' npc blocking noob is gone..:D

haven't tried this myself yet. cause i can always reach them.. it takes like 2 sec extra when they try to block it... but i heard from a lot that it works.

Yes that works using the bandit den return scroll. The scroll takes 5 minutes to activate. As an alternative, if someone's blocking the NPC, you can use arrow keys to navigate (run inside the fire ox) or zoom in all the way and have a better chance of clicking the NPC.

As for changing the physical x:y location of an NPC, I really don't think you can do that. Even if you could, it would just be client side, similar to how changing 8th degree to 9th degree is just client side via pk2 files. IF you could change NPC locations, then you could move all unique spawn points to a single spot under a river and camp there for the 3 uniques. I don't think you could do that, and it would likely throw up some red flags even if you could.

lol yeah that would be cool.. just spawning 3 uniques in the middle of nowhere.. and then killing them all.. but no.. it's like you said.. just client side.. but still that's all you need.. who cares what others see... the universe revolves around yourself.. :P
it would save some time.. cause wouldn't you be able to locate them right at your grinding spot?? or does it has to be in town??

Well perhaps you could put NPCs in your grinding spot, but I still think there would be issues communicating between the client and server. The client will be "convinced" you bought pots, but the server might not see it that way. So did you really buy them, or did you run out and die?

well i don't think so....cause the way i see it... (and i ain't no expert or anything so feel free to correct me) the npc is just a portal for you to tell the server you are buying potz so the server adds the potz to your inventory and the client converts this data to the visual potz you see in your inventory at your client side.

Well you may be right. It depends on if the server keeps track of the location of the NPCs. Even if it doesn't track the NPC locations, it COULD still see that you are not in town, and yet you are trying to buy something from an NPC. I guess anything's possible, without knowing how the server is programmed.

well i think that npc location is something that is handled at the client side.. cause if they are smart they only use the server for the handeling of data like player location, action, mob spawning and player data. And keep al values that don't change at the client side.. to not put more on the server than is absolutely nessecary.

np man.. but i think you are way to good for this game, cause ppl that put stall on npc do it just to mess with players that are just ingame to have fun. So they deserve every dc they get and prob even more.
