I notice alot of koreans screenies of pure intel chars using lightning as main - light imbues. And ppl on these forums suggest to use fire imbue rather. These are from lv 80+ characters too, i am guessing they are light/ice builds with some fire for nukes maybe?

anyone wanna fill me in?
cuz i m currently working on a fire/light + ice(sub)

alot of koreans use the lightning imbue for the parry factor, sure fire imbue does most damage, but lightning imbue damageis more consistent, becuase of that. You could even end up doing more dmg with it (would take awhile though) if you lower someones parry enough that you do max dmg.

SP FARMING + DUAL NUKER.

Fire damage, lightning buff, with maxed skills. Fire nuke, lightning nuke, 'shout' the follow up, your dead. Unless your unlucky, and dead on first hit.

See also, EvilPoptart.

so i'm a pure int dual nuker.. and i'm wondering if i imbue with fire then nuke -- would it do more dmg? i have been currently only lvling my lightning imbue (light mastery at 32 atm) use it then nuke. i haven't thought about it but... if i were to lvl up my fire imbue to lvl 32, currently at no upgrades ><, would i do more dmg if i do fire imbue then nuke? i'm also a spear user if that helps... i don't know if imbues differ between weaps.. soo.. i'm confused.

Most koreans fights involve alot of people. With fire imbue, only you do alot of damage. But with the electric imbue and once the target becomes effected with shock everyone who's attacking that target does more damage. Also with the splash damage of lighting everyone can focus on target while still doing decent damage to enemies near the target.

oh i get it, ok, so lightning is for like multi killing and team oriented, fire is for 1 vs. 1?
Also, what does the effect of lightning actually do?

it lowers the enemy's parry rate, which lets you hit for closer to your max damage.

Yea. Basically. Fire is better than lighting for 1 vs. 1.

I'm not sure by how much high lvl shock reduces your parry but its must pretty good if its so widely used by high lvl korean players.

Thats why I'm a lighting blade character right so it will benefit me and the rest of my guild members. :)

well the shock wouldn't matter because of the pills. This would mean that fire is the best damage wise. But then, you'd think lightning is good cause of area damage or w/e...well em, there's a skill called soul spear (or ghost spear, i forgot) that does a 360 spin attack...so fire isn't really missing out on area damage, just not hitting area damage as often :?

Yea thats really the only reason I can think of for people to go Light imbue, the AoE effect.. that or they dont have the fire tree at all. Most people go Fire imbue because its a lot stronger at the later levels, level 69 Light imbue does 286-429 damage, while the level 69 Fire imbue does 351-584 damage. Thats a pretty huge difference in damage. And for people that have the Light nuke, that will always hit 3 close targets, and the Fire book 3 will always hit 5 close target anyways.. so I dont really see the point in getting Light Imbue..

well, i've seen many fights and know that lighning attacks for nuking is good, since you can knock out multiple people. I've seen a dude knock out 5 noobs, all falling at the same time like sincranized swimming, lmao. But fire would most likely do the most damage...

I dunno, I'm tired, but if I recall correctly, lightning nuke only hits 3 people each nuke.

There was that screenshot from kSRO with a GM missing some hits. If we infer that they have a fully functional system of missing, higher parry would be very valuable, would it not?

You can pill all you want but at least one attack animation will benefit from the shock effect. And since you're being attacked by numerous foes with the lighting imbue their going to benefit as well and I'm pretty sure within 2 seconds you'll have shock status once again. :)

Did I miss something? When did everyone have the ghost spear skill? :?

Ok, lets get into a little more detail.

Lighting nukes give you an 10m of distance between your target. The fire nuke has a max of 6m. I don't have to get in close as fire to do some nice damage.

At a 10m distance a light nuker can beat a fire nuker of equal lvl. I'm not sure how fast a person can cover 4m to cast there fire imbue but if you're lighting you have already started casting the thunderbolt and can be ahead 1 or 2 seconds over the fire nuker depending on how long it takes the fire nuker to get in range to start flame wave.

Light nuker - light imbue + tiger's thunderbolt + earth lion shout + heaven lion shout + shock lion shout = dead fire nuker. If the fire nuker isn't dead yet then tiger's thunderbolt should finish them off. And what about the extra damage that they gain if the opponent is shocked? Dead.

Fire nuker - fire imbue + flame wave-wide....whats next? :?

And plus, lightining is cheaper. Lvl 50 flame wave-wide cost 1501 mp to use. Lvl 50 tiger's thunderbolt cost 1083 mp to use. Both imbues cost the same amout of mp at that lvl there is no need to compare them. But later fire imbue also does cost more mp than light imbue does.

Now wait, you're probably saying that using the extra mp for the extra damage is worth it and saving 100 mp is nothing for high lvl nukers. hehehe

The difference between the mp usage is 418. Lvl 51 heaven lion shout cost 518. For a extra 100 mp I can do 219-406 more damage to the target and targets within 2m of the target.

So lets do the math.

lvl 51 lvl 50
Fire imbue + flame wave-wide
187~312 281~468 = 468~710

lvl 51 lvl 50 lvl 51
Light imbue + tiger's thunderbolt + heaven lion shout
149~276 263~489 219-406 = 631~1171

Which is stronger now? For an extra 100 mp I can do almost 400 more damage than fire. And this hasn't even factored in the light's splash damage and possible shock effect. Shock is the next best thing a nuker can have since they can't get criticals. You're going to need it when going against a good fire nuker.

Splash damage + shock effect + the extra 4m over fire and the light nuker totally beats the fire nuker.

Does it make sense now why Koreans use light over fire?
:)

Not sure why you quoted me, because I only compared the imbues and not the nukes. I thought the original poster was asking which Imbue was better.. not which force is :?

Anyways, a nuker should have both Light AND Fire.. not one or the other.

Yea, I got a little sidetracked. lol

Having both would be good but not everyone is willing to farm all that sp.

I believe the lighting tree gets the job done just find.
