I've read a huge amount of info on this board but not come across anything definitive on whether a lvl 16 bow STR or INT is better.

Bow is obviously a STR weapon but I've seen a number of passing references to INT being better for farming at 16, but there's noting that expands on which is better.

So, does anyone have an answer on which one to use for farming?

p.s. If I've missed the answer on my searches then sorry, but this board is getting more and more diffilcult to find answers on with a search :(

if you want to make a pure int, you need to farm with a pure int bow on 16 :)

INT bows do more damage.

But dont base your build on which is better for farming!!!

Go for what you like more :)

Well if you're going to go pure strength obviously don't add int, however if you're going to become a int hybrid or pure int then put ALL of your points into int as it will do the most damage. If you want to become a hybrid balance yourself out later when you're done farming.

Thnx for all your replies :)

From what I've found a pure INT bow does more damage than anything else. As this character is purely for farming GP for my guild when needed and will not be developed past lvl 16 then I'm going for pure INT.

If if I do develop the charater at a later date it be fun to see what it turns out like :)

Once I've tried it I'll post some info on what it's like. I currently have a lvl 16 sos +3 bow but have some work to do on it first.

One thing I forgot to ask. How do I do the big hit being a full INT bow, as in what skills to use? :? :)

Max ice and put in spear passive to 60, you'll need it.

I meant at lvl 16, what skill (buff and/or imbue) is used to get the biggest hit from an archer that's pure INT?

Int bow is much easier to farm than str bow, you can 1 shot bandits with full int on your gear and sos 16+3 bow leveling to around 18 then deleveling. With pure str, you need at least a som bow probably +5.
For skills get level your masteries to 7, and fire imbue is all you need as int. Most people get anti devil and arrow combo for giants.

Well, I've now tried this with a sos +3 bow going full Int with a 9 gap at 16. I've got 2-3 Int blue increase on all items. The result. Absolutely no difference to going pure STR (tried on a previous character). Still takes 3 hits for a bandit, 2 with a crit!!

I think this now proves that in the long run going pure INT with a bow is not the thing to do.

@Ell - I presume when you say full Int on gear you're refering to 3 Int and 3 STR on all items? (max for 3rd degree gear). If I manage to achieve this I'll post the result but I can only increase INT total by another 10 and I don't think that's not gonna get me one hitting bandits :(

Man you all must be incredibly lucky! :D

At level 16, where do you guys get the gold for SoX weapons and all those stones? Buy it with real $? Other characters supply it? For those of us who can't possibly afford SoX weapons and buying 30+ stones, do you go INT or STR?

Thanks,

The character in question is a shared player by my guild for the purposes of getting quick GP when needed. We've all been player 6 months to a year and, with everyone donating, the cost is not much for higher lvl players :)

As for STR or INT. If you're going to use your charcter above lvl 16 then, based on my result of going full INT at 16, I definately have to say go pure STR for a bow. It's a STR weapon and, whilst I've seen the odd post saying INT bow does some big one hit damage, there's no evidence behind them and my results show it doesn't, not at lvl 16 anyway. I really can't see pure INT being better at higher lvls.

Are you using imbue? Full int with a 16+3 bow and no bonuses can 2 shot so the only thing I can think of is that your not using imbue.

that is what i am thinking of too. normally, a pure int with sos 16+3 bow
should be able to 2hit archers with imbue. if you forget the imbue, there
is off course no advantage of being pure int since the attacks will be
physical only.

just use abti-devil lv 2 and fire imbue lv2 masteries at 9 gap (lv 7)
the bandit is one shot 8)
well that depends 2 more thing which r

when farming don't use any skills besides imbue because there is a delay in the attack so you are wasting more time, 2 hit kills is fine for farming

Thnx for the update people.

Yes, I'm using imbue :)

If I can log in today I'll try playing around and see what I can come up with that may be causing me to only 3 hit bandits. I think I can do 2 hit archers but then you get twice as many SeP for bandits so I would really like to be able to one hit them :)

I'll post what's happens later today or tomorrow.

edit: I've taken some s/shots of my gear and will post them as soon as I get the time to do it.

Afterthought: Is everyone clear that I'm talking about one hitting bandits, not bandit archers?
