Have you ever fought someone with a 64+7 sun glaive with your little +5 glaive and gotten a beating after you were so sure that you could beat them?
Having trouble hunting/thieving when a char in the opposite jobsuit is nearby? I'm gonna teach you some things, like how to have the largest advantage possible against one of these full SOSUN monsters, but first i'm gonna refresh your memory on these basic facts. THIS FIRST PART IS JUST FOR WEAPS.
Say you have a lvl 72+5 weap. In theory that would equal the damage of a lvl 77 weap, yes?
say your opponent has a 64+7 sun weap. SOSUN is +15, so in total, that is +22. So what the hell are you gonna do? his weapon is, in effect, a level 86 weapon, almost 10 levels higher than yours! This is how we're gonna overcome this:
If your opponent already has a sun weap, chances are that he won't spend too much time upgrading its percentages (hopefully. if he did then you'll have a hard time)
So this is what you do - PIMP YOUR WEAP OUT, and DO NOT ONLY ADD BLUES! There's so much more to it. If you have the money, UPGRADE BOTH YOUR MAG and PHYS damage on the weap to +80%. That's already a huge step forward, and equivalent to plusing up your weapon. The next step is to get your MAG and PHYS REINFORCE to a decent percentage, preferably over 60%. Believe me, it help ALOT, and heres why - if you notice that your weapon varies alot in terms of the amount of damage it inflicts, you have a low reinfore %. A high reinforce % basically makes your weapon more consistent in terms of the damage that it does.
EXAMPLE- you are a 80 pure int sword against an 80 str glaiver. On average, you hit him for 8k. Sometimes you hit him for more, but more frequently you hit him for around 7k. See? your damage is not consistent. Get a good reinforce %, and you will hit him with your weapons maximum potential.
Next, obviously, add your blues, and add all the blues you can think of. DO NOT ACCEPT ANY AMOUNT LOWER THAN +4 INT OR STR ON YOUR WEAP! and try to do the same for your armour, but more will come on defense in another thread. Increase your attack rating, add all the blues you can think of. you know the drill.
For all of you who just can't seem to get a sun weap, i recommend you buy some astrals and go for +7. +7 served me extremely well, and I had 80% mag and 80% phys on my sword, and it helped me alot with those irritating str glaviers who thought they could kill me first with their stupid spin move. Ive gone up to +9 now, and it didn't make that much of a difference so don't feel that you have to try for that.
This is the first step to dealing with a sun char, but it is by no means the most important step. Your armour can make or break you, so i'll write about that too, and not just the blues. I'll show you what i did, and how much it helped me. Yes, i did eventually get my fair share of SUN prots(including the chest piece that i wanted so bad) but don't for a second fear someone with a sun set. According to some people, your build affects how good you are in pvp - i'm a pure int with 114% mag, and people call that weak, seconds before i slaughter them

. I believe that there is NO superior build - in my opinion its how good you are at playing your build. I'm a dual weap, which has many advantages - and yes, the stupid spinning move does come in handy once in a while, though i hate to say it.
I hope that ive helped anyone reading this - it really did help me.
More to come.
