That video strengthened my atheism. Still watching, considering becoming a Sun-worshiping pagan. :P

lol wow not that much of a shock

seeing how Chrisitanity was formed from the belife system of jewdisem and the Roman empire...like wise Islam was formed form and shares comman traits with jewdisem and christianity.

and likewise my own religion Sikism is am mixture of Hinduisem and Islam.

I mean religions dont magical appear, people take the good from different
belifes and make new ones.
like take christmas....was orignally on in March, when jesus was meant to
be born (follow jewish calander), but was changed to the 25th and the
then Christians in England forced the Pagans to worship Christ, well they
did...but in their own way....and so Christmass was born (but now its all
about this 3 wise man gift shit and helping others, well in reality its a pagan winter
celebration).

So he proves that Christianity comes from ancient Egyptian believes. He does not prove he is in fact a myth. What he does give us is some nice bullcrap about how the stars line up and comes with a grand final telling us over 40 writers did not write about Jesus. ( We can fill a small library too with books from 40 different writers who state nothing about Al Qaeda, does it not exist?)

Maybe the stars are named after the three kings? And after that, every new age the same ritual happens again? Just like millions of things in this world happen again?

If they want to be really right, why not compare some stuff? Today we have hundreds of countries electing Presidents, and in every country it looks a bit the same, why can't this be the same with gods? I'm not saying they're being elected, but it shows similarity. So every election is based in the first one, they do have differences obviously, same with religions.
In a thousand years, will we compare Holland with America, say: ZOMFG! THE PEOPLE VOTE THERE. Well.... it must all come from Greece, and the myth just went one from there. Therefor, democracy is the biggest fraud of history?
Because things look a like does not mean it's a fraud. Jesus can still exist no matter if he's copying Horus.

Why do people need to bash on religions? They pretend to be smart, throw all these facts in to us but skip major parts in their explanation. Notice how it goes from stars and zodiacs to a fraud, without ANY explanation as to why it is a fraud. It's a fraud because many religions show similarity?
I think it's a wrong movie not displaying both sides of the story, and to think you being atheist is justified by this movie is just bad. (I'm not saying being Atheist needs justification btw).

And for the record: I do not believe in god.

He also explains how Christianity and other religions were used as a political mechanism to take control over people psychologically by making people stay within boundaries (13 commandments and various other things if you talk about Christianity ) by some fictional "manual" to life.

What about that?

And that does not prove Jesus didn't exist. It proves people exploited the beliefs people had, it does not prove what they say which is:"They exploit the people because they know 'the truth'."
Personally I'd tell the truth if I knew it, and I bet someone would have told the truth... IF HE ACTUALLY KNEW IT!

We all know the church was very wrong various times, but mistakes also do not prove fraud. The movie is trying to prove Jesus&Co are a fraud, and like I said before: they just throw in random facts which have no affiliation with the subject. And you just proved my point again, political influence of a religion has nothing to do with Jesus being a fraud.

You have completely miss read my post.

I meant that most elements(if not all) of alot of religions were created by the government to take control completely over the people, thus creating bloodshed and saying, "well if the bible says it okay, I guess it's okay too kill tons of "pagan" women" (which would be giving the okay to do unnecessary bloodshed) Just like the crusades, they did it for "religious" purposes and killed shit loads of people, and not only that but they failed at the attempt, hmmm I wonder where was god when they were having their little war? (think about that)

p.s.The dark is there for the illiterate and not so intelligent.

Note: Not saying to all the religious people to not continue practicing their religion, because frankly it's their life not mine. :) [/b]

How bout this. Lets oversimplify things even more.

There REALLY wasn't dinosaurs because no one has seen them, and they share aspects with other things, such as lizards. Dinosaurs are a fraud.

Hmmm lets look back in the medieval times, the pope controlled the king, AND the people. The reason was because people were told that if you accept jesus into your life and follow the 10 commandments you would some "great" afterlife.

And now lets look at modern days. Even the usa government is controlled by religion in some way. For example gay rights. They have been fighting for that for like 30 or 40 years, and why have they not achieved that yet? Oh I don't know....it's because of Christianity saying being gay is wrong, therefor considering that almost all the presidents were Christian (if not all) they will not give them rights as long as the Christian faith is practiced by the people. (in other words....never)

That's exactly opposite of what you said. You said the gov't created elements of religion - what you just explained is that religion influences parts of gov't.

still i hope if any o you are taking this video seriously you looking some of it up to make sure its true. Blindly following the information someone gives out is as bad as religion

Quote:

Im sure if we got books from the 40 most prominent historical writers,
enough books to fill a small library, they would defiantly mention Al Qaeda...to try and use that as a way to discredit the 40 historians theory is just lame

Quote:
Maybe the stars are named after the three kings? And after that, every new age the same ritual happens again? Just like millions of things in this world happen again?

The Egyptian religion of worshiping the sun god Ra predates all Judo-Christian religious acts and the story of the Three Kings was mentioned as early as the Egyptian religion...so OF course the stars were named after the three kings, the point is they were named the 3 kings WAY before jesus came around.

Quote:

This paragraph made no sense to me it sounds like your rambling out of control at this point. And democracy isn't a fraud even in our history text books they credit the creation of democracy to the Greeks, of course to be honest i doubt the greeks were the first to come up with such a thing and they probably got the idea from a neighboring African or Arab culture, i'll look into it for myself later.

Quote:
Because things look a like does not mean it's a fraud. Jesus can still exist no matter if he's copying Horus.
You'd think that the 40 most well known historians of the age would think some guy walking over water and raising ppl from the dead was noteworthy. I mean if some Cabinet member i've never heard of nor will never here of again could make it into my school history book im sure the ancient historians could've penciled miracle man in theirs.

Quote:

they throwing facts at us...Oh No! everyone avert your eyes the truth is coming  . Its a fact guy, its its own explanation. Though he does say christianity is a fraud you clearly missed the point. The zodiac and stars references just prove how the core of most religions are based on astrology. Christianity is a fraud because it tries to claim all these similarities as being originally christian and shun any thought thats different by chalking it up to the Devil  , which ironically is originally an Arab/Islamic word. Im sure all the other religions listed in the video wouldn't deny the astrologic references because they are all OLD enough to know they may have been based on stars, the first objects that mankind ever worshiped and dreamt about, it makes sense. Of course you'll be hard pressed to find a Christian that would accept that astrological claim to there religion because its so new and has been so twisted from its original meaning that saying jesus is just a metaphor for the Sun would bring the whole world crashing down on there heads. thats why it can be considered a fraud, at least thats my interpretation of the video....

Quote:

whats the other side of the story exactly, cause they do go over the christian belief of christ very well, they even show an old movie of it XD. I think a movie like this is very important for atheist while they shouldn't base there atheism on it it presents alot of discrediting information to about the most popular/powerful religion in the world and is great ammo that can be used against those that would try to oppress us or worse, convert us.

Mmmmmk, well I guess we have a problem here don't we?

Well lets look back on the vid (if you even watched it, you would realize what I meant). LIKE IT SAID!, "The emperor Constantine created the council of Nazea" which meaning this council created the new testament. And this what the Christian people follow to this day.

Well I could go forever, but I have other things to do other than to argue on the internet about a religion which I do not even participate in...

Xemnas has it spot on. Do you think it's a coincidence that all the major religions of the world revolve around the same basic components? It's just different versions of the same story, from back when all man knew was the sun and the stars. The sun brings life and light, so people naturally worshiped it like a supreme being (God).

Well lets look back on the vid (if you even watched it, you would realize what I meant). LIKE IT SAID!, "The emperor Constantine created the council of Nazea" which meaning this council created the new testament. And this what the Christian people follow to this day.

Why didn't you just say that the first time? Instead of completely contradicting yourself?

Anyways, gov't didn't create religion. Contrarily, most gov't were created due to religion or were seen as one in the same. If we look at the earliest civilizations, they worshiped things like the sun. If you would have watched the video, that's one of the first things mentioned. Now, i'm not thoroughly educated in ancient civilization, but I'm pretty sure they didn't have centralized gov't that thrived on controlling its people, which means that there's no way for a gov't to create a religion to control its people.

As far as your Pope example, the Pope controlled gov't, not the other way around. Yes, Catholics did take advantage of their power over the common folk, but no gov't created Catholic belief.

As far as your Constantine example, you're right, but you're goin in the wrong direction. At the time, Christianity was a totally separate entity from the Roman empire (then called "The Way") and in fact it was severely punishable crime to be a Christian in Rome. Constantine did a lot for the growth of Christianity, but did not create it nor shape it. Christian beliefs were already established well before the Council of Nicea, just not in a formal fashion. What took place at the Council was an agreement of canon. Some things were dropped, some things were added, but to say that gov't created most elements of religion is a flat out lie. And its laughable for you to use Constantine & Christianity as an example since Christianity existed way before Constantine's time.

[edit]Oh, and i'm not arguing. I'm spreading knowledge. I hate to see people watch some video online and draw a line between fact and fiction based upon it. And I hate even more the fact that people feed into this fiasco with completely false and unsupported information.
