so... this is actually kinda funny...
my father's boss is really stupid when it comes to computers. really smart at a lot of other things, but really stupid with computers...
so... he had a really nice machine (specs are as follows)
pentium 4 3.6 ghz
2GB DDR2
250GB SATA hdd
DVDRW 16x drive
and the best part...
NVIDIA QuadroFX 3400 workstation vid card (original price around 2 grand)
so... he had this computer hooked up, and for some reason he kept messing it up, but he thought it was the computer... so he disconnected it and my dad gave him a computer that i had given to him. (one that was not nearly as good)
so dad's boss loves the not as good computer and doesnt even use the nice ass one...
so i go out there to help him setup a few things on the computer and see that he doesnt have the other one hooked up... so i take it home with me.
now, since he seems to like older slower computers, i have one at home that is something like a 2.4 ghz with 512 RDRAM 40 gig, etc. If i bring him this computer, he will trade me straight across for the nice computer that he paid like 3500 dollars for.
what is really funny, is the one i will trade him, i got for 10 dollars in the county auction. rofl.
i win.

tbh, I feel no sorrow for people that don't check prices on things irl before they get rid of them. There's only about a gazillion different places to look.
In MMOs, I have more sympathy, especially for noobs, since they don't know what things are worth yet or where to search for them, but still have no sympathy for people that should know better.

the reason he wasnt using it was LOL.. and i quote him... "the guy i used to work for has my specific codes, and whenever i go online he has his hackers mess up the computer, it just isnt useful to me."
so i offered to take it off his hands so the hackers couldnt get at him

You have an odd reason.. You feel sorry for noobs ingame, but not for noobs irl. Common

Anyone who's been paying attention in about the last decade or so knows they can look up prices on the internet. It's usually much harder to find something for games than in real life though, if you don't know where to look. real life? Ebay, Google, Amazon, etc. etc. MMO? Well, look up guide sites, and hope they have something...

oh, after i actually setup the pc yesternight... i found it has 3 gigs of ram and not 2, and i played some CS source last night, and pwned some people's faces in.
max settings 1600x1200 res ftw same with sro max settings 1600x1200 res. and it runs smooth as freakin butter, both games... this machine is by far the best machine i have ever had.

negative, there is a little down arrow in the resolution box, and when you push it, you can go down to other resolutions

Sro detects the max output settings for your pc. (Not any higher than 1600x1200 I think)

Max settings, and 8 small sro windows? xD I dunno. I saw some turkish guy complaining on the official forums that he couldn't run 4 sro's because he didn't have enough video memory.. Quite funny
