 Post subject: Hawks, Berserker Arrow and other Archer under used skills

Would someone with more knowledge than me on these subjects please post your thoughts/findings on these (and any other ) archer skills.

I've got the white hawk, which is supposed to raise the lower limit of your damage range. It's at 9 and I don't see a big difference.

The black hawk does damage, although I've found it to be too weak to bother leveling.

The blue one raises the minimum damage alot more?


Then there's berserker arrow series. I tried it at a low level and found it didn't do much damage. I tried it recently (lev 1) and it seems to be a bit more effective and it makes me wonder how it is at higher levels.

berserker arrow = pwnage.
As for the hawks , attack rating matters , ALOT. I am a glavier and I have , I kid you not , lv 42 bow mastery just for the bird and passive and I plan to get it at lv 54 for the blue hawk.
The black hawk is total suckage as you mentioned , but the other hawks pwn.

I find attack rating more important than fire mastery, my fire is left out far behind :) and dmg increase isn't that much, I will lv it again when I have some more sp

I have a question about the black hawk. If you are fighting someone and you die does your hawk still attack them? LOL That would be ownage, getting wrecked by a bird you cant kill.

Woutr could you be a bit more specific than pwnage (re. Berserker arrow)? Typically when someone uses that term I discount everything they say, but in your case I'll make an exception.

Also do you have any specifics on the changes to damage that the hawks make?

When I use whitehawk, I dont knotice much, i just believe it's doing something. When I use Blackhawk you can visually see the damage it's doing so you feel more with that, not got Blue yet.

berserker arow is pwnage as woutR says. Hitting Multi targets at once is cool + the damage is decent(it has attack rating increase). cant say much more on that.

would the damage be greater than strong/spirit bow? Typically as a str character I don't want to aggro lots of mobs at once as I have to finish them off one at a time. Perhaps this is more of an int skill?

it's about the same damage but you add what the extra attack rating does, plus you get an extra 4 hits on any monsters near by.

And, this is more of a str skill than an int skill, having more than one monster on you at a time while being int isnt good, while being str you can take lots of hits and not be woried.

Hmmm not sure that I believe that. Typically you start an attack with your power shot (for me strong bow) with imbue. Followed by triple arrow. If I wait while another power shot like berserker arrow starts I get pounded, by multiple monsters. While I can take alot of damage Why would I want to. It's costly in potions and repairs (and death).

Anyone at higher levels experimented with it?

pretty low damage on lvl 64
wile blue hawk offers +29 attack rating on lvl 66, add that to the passive +27 on lvl 60 and you score a ar increase of 58 add that to the ar increase of devil arrow you get a total of 77 extra attack rating :shock:

Use lightning for effect, and factor in the ratio of your target's parry vs. your AR= MORE DoTS!!

well the berserker arrow is good as in high damage. If you do an anti devil and a 3-4 arrow combo you'll do less dmg than the berserker arrow can do.

some ppl prefer crit chance over max damage ,
imo , both are right , there are just so many way's to build up a char in sro , its amasing that a game with so lil stats can actualy have so many way's to build up a char

i personaly have a all str archer that only uses antydevil bow series
demon arrow ,autum wind flame series , and arrow combo's
I made my build around big single hits , with the arrow chains as a kinda back up skill to use when all the others are in cool down time or vs shield users , ( darn block ^^)
i dont plan on taking strong bow couse imo its kinda to slow to fire .

My build is more about landing big damage in a single hit to try and out damage pot speeds , in my experiance chains dont realy do much damage to a player that has auto pot potting away as soon as you scratch em a lil and most players also use the purple pots next to the auto pot to save there lifes in guildwars and jobs.
So i desided to try and do something new and use a bunch of skills that hit hard and dont take a long time to fire like strong bow dus

my archer is in her 20's now and when ever i grind i totaly out damage the ppl around me using sos weaponry with my +0 critt 6 bow ^^
its not that i do more damge than thay do , i just do more damage over time , and anty devilbow , realy helps in that with its nice high crit chance :D

also , i plan on using a lil sneeky trick ,

when you fight unigues , thay spawn stuff around them right ?
So if you blast in to those groups with aoe attacks youl end up catching a load of exp , sinds your not realy doing any big damage to a sinle target conpaired to the ppl who concentrate on killing the mob your not very likely to attract the mob onto you , how eber youl be doing damage all over the place ,and you still get your share of the exp when some one els kills it , so youl still get a load of exp

hehe yeah i use this trick with my lightning nuker , just splah all over , sadly enuf being a nuker you do attackt some mobs onto you if you do not switch to a new mob fast enuf
just yesterday i was battling with uru and his spawns , I even died during the second wave when i got mobbed by some giants ^^
i just waited on the ground being all dead till the fight was over , wile i was cashing in exp from all the splash damage i did , i ended up being 4% higher in exp than i was befor i got into the fight
and thats with the -2% you get after you die ^^
and yeah 4% is alot when your sp farming and only getting 0'01% exp per kill

Splash damage is negligable for pure str users though (I crit one monster with lightning for 3900, and hit the adjacent one for 118).

I use anti devil (book 2 is maxed) when strong is still recharging.

I tend to kill silver or gold mobs. Golds currently hit me for 650-800, and crits really hurt. To kill a gold mob (Hashade) I hit strong, fire imbue, then hit tripple arrow. When done it's dead. On occasion its dead when I crit on strong bow. Using anti devil I often have to either reimbue or hit anti devil again (unless I crit 1-2 times), which uses more mana and takes more time.

I also still maintain that if you can't get them all quickly you can get into trouble, especially if you are near aggro mobs. If you are 4x and hit a bunch of Urechi's mobs with berserker arrow you will be in trouble

i have a kind of irrelavent question but the thing that increases range in pacheon skill tree, does that also increase the distance of nukes?

dude i wasnt talking about lightning imbue splash damage for the bow char , bow has 2 aoe hits , use those ,thay are str based ,
and another thing , your compairing 1 slow skill wih another slow skill
demon arrow and strong bow are both slow as shitz
my preference will go to demon arrow couse of its crit increase ,
crits win pvp , crits will get more damage over time in long fights

and Antione , no it dusnt add range to nukes

First, I've stated repeatedly that I am a strength user and thus my questions are strength related.

Second, I do use other skills, mainly fire, as I do not always want to aggro others. I had cold at level 42 before I deleveled it because its damage output was sub par.

Third, yes I am comparing slow skills to slow skills. To my knowledge Strong bow has the highest damage output at 300%. It is also the slowest to charge. But if I use it at range when a monster is not charging me I have plenty of time. I don't want to spend alot of time or mana on a kill. The whole purpose of an archer is to take things out at range. You say those skills are slow, what are you using? You haven't said, though you've alluded to using berserker arrow with lighting?. Specifically when you attack a mob of similiar or higher level to take it out.

Lastly my post was about exploring other skills, I'm trying to get to the facts, not just poeple's opinions. Your table is a good list of facts. Saying a kill owns is an opinion. I do actually know all of the skills, and have tried all of them at low levels, I have the third book of several of them.

Perhaps I need to refine my question. Does anyone who is a strength bow user above level 40 use the berserker arrow series, or the autumn wind series. If so why do you like it and how does it compare to killing against using strong bow?

i get the feeling we are both on the same wavelength just not getting each other , hehe , anyway's
strong bow is good as a 1st hit on mobs , yes , in pvp its a tad to slow for some ppl's likings , and many inclueding me prefer to use the other slow skill demon arrow series couse of its crit chance , instead of the strong bow ,
