Well,

I was just "thrown" from my bed, to say. It struck just after midnight. I would say that at the beginning it was a Vertical earthquake, and then went Laterall.

It lasted for a good minute, which is really scary. and it was really strong, it got really strong during the middle, however it was just the silence around us that was really scary. Apart from creeks, doors, and even screams from Neighbours. It was silent.

Living in an Apartment building, im on the 5th floor. So, yes it was kinda bad. My lamp was shaking so hard, it swung and hit the roof. However, there seems to be no structual damage, and everything in the house seems fine.

It was 70miles from the Capital, 300km under the Sea. No Tsunami warning however, due to it's lateral movement and depth, which is a good thing.

After experiencing 12 years of Jakarta'n earthquakes, this is the longest and worst one ive ever felt...

Now, i just await the After Shocks, and hope they arent so bad. Heart still racing, and a little shaken. However, im good.

I just kinda with i was on SRO when this happen, so i could have said.
    "BRB Earthquake"

Well, it's been bad so far. A lot of friends seem to have been hit hard, one of my friend's houses has a huge crack in his floor.

Anothers friend's cabinet fell over, some fallen paintings, mirrors and statues...

Kinda scary, i guess i was lucky.. Only time will tell how bad it was...

Glad you're ok. Not saying an earthquake is good, or that I'd want to experience one, but how many people get to say they've been through a 7.4?

Glad you didn't get hurt hun. We had lots of Earthshakes in Japan but I slept through them all back in the days even when the bookshelf was about to fall on me and my parents were trying so hard to push it back. But then again, we were on 1st floor instead of 5th so the shaking wasn't that bad at all, and it never really beyond magnitude 5.

Yeah I remember you were on MSN at that time :P If you said BRB Milly, got earthshake here ;), I would have said, okay hun enjoy <3.

Keep in mind that the Richter Earthquake scale is not a linear one: it's exponential. So, a magnitude 7 earthquake is 4 times stronger then a magnitude 3,5 one.

It's good to hear that you are well, Key-J :)

Erm No.

A Richter 2 is 10x stronger than a 1, and 3 is 10x stronger than 2, and 4 is 10x stronger than a 3, and 5 is 10x stronger than 4, and a 6 10x stronger than a 5, and a 7 is 10x stronger than a 6, and a 7.6 is 6x stronger than a 7.

If I've learnt anything in Geography :P

Anyway, Key-J glad to hear your alrite :) Closest I've been to an earthquake is a simulation in some museum somewhere (london I think), and I'm sure thats nothing compared to how it really is (adrenaline/shock factor).

Glad to hear you're ok dude! Closest thing I've had to an earthquake....is will an earthquake! I live in California and have been through about three, not that large though, only small ones (was born after the 89 earthquake luckily) but they are still a weird thing to experience.

Yeah, i heard that there was an Earthquake in Cali.

N yeah, each 1.0 you go up is 10x as bad. We got hit by some aftershocks last night as well. However, nothing really bad... Just a couple of small shakes.

Yeah, in Japan i can imagine it must have been worse than here..

N hey, screw all that Armagedon crap. The world is over cuz its gna rip apart
