tbh thats not what i meant but its a very good example, it would've been better had you noted a more positive example like penicillin and how it was made through a complete accident....sometimes just keeping things in motion is enough to cause advancements and breakthroughs....

The reason I brought his name up is because science should be drawing lines (and they probably do) as to how far experiments should go. Because there's potential for this pregnant man to be true, it's disgusting to think people are willing to play god by trying to develop a new life inside a man. "In the name of science" and "because we can" doesn't sound like something that could be acceptable under these circumstances. Though in the past it's happened probably many many times, as Dr. Mengele reminds us. And at least then there were some practical benefits to his experiments, given the gruesome and inhumane manner they were performed in. Something this pregnant man can't accomplish, since I see absolutely no benefit to this other than to see whether it's possible or not.
Actually, it doesn't disgust me that people are willing to play god, it disgusts me that people allowed it to happen. But then if it were real, we wouldn't have heard it first on this forum.

Would you say the same thing if they were making clones. Would you say the same thing if we were killing off those with genetic imperfections. Would you say the same thing about a person on life support. People play God all the time its become a daily ritual in todays society. You support it all the time by not speaking out against such things and yet i believe someday you would profit from ALL of the aforementioned breakthroughs and actions. Mengele had a twisted idea of what he wanted to test, if he was a scientist he was conducting experiments and experiments always have a purpose. For all you know though that could just have been how he got off.
No its not playing god that disgust you like you said, or that ppl, YOU have allowed such a thing to happen. I think what disgust you and everyone else is simply the possibility of a man having a baby. It seemed funny when Arnold did it but when faced with a possible reality the idea becomes shunned immediately. Its suspenseful in a movie when the character is holding on only by life-support but when faced with a terry schiavo ppl panic and don't know what the hell to make of it. When the lines become to blurry between science-fiction and reality to the point where ppl can't decide what to do they stick with the status quo, they deny change until it cannot be denied any longer that is the way the world has always worked. I wonder how long it will be before ppl start thanking god for the pregnant man just like they would thank god for the extra organs, the life support, and a lack of genetic disabilities like retardation.....because all of these things are inevitable....
this is mostly for the sake of argument because i don't see the benefit of male pregnancy myself....aside from if a straight couples female couldn't get the job done or for homo couples....but time will tell

There are interactive features and video clips all over the site. Good stuff.
Apparently the author is Virgil Wong, whose “concurrent careers as an artist/filmmaker, Web Center director, MFA faculty member, and Nia teacher all revolve around his interests in medicine, technology and the human body.” His full-time job is “Head of Web Design and Development for two prestigious non-profit medical institutions.” See also the RYT Hospital pages of his “Installations and Net Art” section. I gather that Lee Mingwei (the pregnant man) is also an artist, and was also involved in creating this work; both artists are apparently members of an art group called Paperveins.
I’m always tempted with this kind of thing to link to it as if it were something real and let y’all gradually figure out what’s going on. But for some reason this time I felt like talking about it in terms of sf from the start.
Imagining it was real for a moment...
Women don't have a value per se; it's not like they are traded like livestock.
Regardless, it would never become popular enough to replace surrogate mothers, so even if you consider them as a commodity their value would never decrease.
It would open doors for homosexuals only when scientists are able to engineer egg cells and sperm cells (is that even possible with stem cells?); until then it wouldn't allow homosexual couples to become true biological parents together.
I assume you would treat a pregnant man the same as a pregnant woman; help them with whatever they need, be it opening doors, emotional support, etc.
No question that religious people would call it blasphemy.
It wouldn't benefit our society. Unless the gender ratio asplodes and we suddenly have no women, it would be practically useless to use "surrogate fathers". On the other hand, it could prove useful in repopulating species of animals that have unusually unbalanced gender ratios.

watching all those numbers are making me scared
but still in that numbers births are still faster than death... why do they need men to be pregnant since what is the purpose for womens?
i think the births gona rise dromaticlly if they are gona put males with viginas!

I think that any child born to a man would lack what it needs to survive, because during pregnancy the woman's hormones greatly affect the child, and there's no way you can tell me amniotic fluid in the placenta from a man would have all the nutrients an unborn baby needs. It wouldn't work the way it's supposed to, and it's unnatural- and the children born would likely suffer through life from various diseases or abnormalities.
Just my thoughts though, you're all welcome to prove me wrong.
I still don't wanna see MrFudge carrying my baby.. something's just wrong about that..

The science is dubious. Something like this wouldve been published in gynae/obstetrics journals years ago (and there isnt one). Not to mention it is also inethical and fatal to do this to a man/women (ectopic implantation).
Still, it makes good discussion should one day such a possibility arrives. Unfortunately for those hoping, this isnt it.

After seeing a couple of caesarians, and vaginal deliveries, I'm seriously considering adoption instead <.<

Ithink that if this baby really is born it will be rejected by so many people./ it will get picked onm and harrased because he wasn't born from a woman. And basically this is just plain wrong.

IF this is true, do you know why its pointless? you still need a woman, you still need the egg from a woman, you cant just make those from nothing, thats like creating dna, creating new life. Once you have an egg you need to introduce sperm to the egg and then you put it inside the man. All a big waste of time to be honest
Also if this is true the baby and/or that bloke is more than likley gonna die during birth, or the child is gonna be deformed/very ill.
Also, this better be totally independent with no funding from the goverment, overwise all you people in america are paying for them to do this crap.
More than likley a hoax anyway. Usually if someone is considering doing something like this it ends up getting all over the news, but this is the first ive heard of it

its interesting but also wrong
this is messing with the natural order of evolution, if we tamper and become suited to this life style and essentially the man made next level of evolution we may inherrit may risks, risks that may doom man kind, asexual humans is not right.
who ever watches stargate sg1?
the Asgard altered there evolutionary chain with cloning in the end destroyed them selfs i know this is fiction but that part could possible be an effect if we carry on with the course of altered the natural order
