i want to know about the powerlvling penalty, how maximum exp is gained when you fight mobs 11 lvls higher than the character your powerlvling, is it the actual level or mastery?

I saw it posted in a thread before but can't find it, so any help would be greatful

If you are grinding solo or in dist party, there is a +11 penalty from highest mastery level (not char level). For example, if you have a nine gap, there is a penalty for grinding on mobs more than 2 levels over your char level. This has been tested and proven.

For power-leveling, in a share party, if all the members are within 20 levels, there is no penalty at all. Ideally, you will be power-leveled by someone 20 levels higher than you who is grinding on mobs 10+ levels higher than he is. (I haven't tested this, but its what JM says).

I don't know if the 20 level share party requirement is from mastery or from char level. I assume its from char level. Of course, I assumed the +11 penalty was from char level as well and that was proven wrong.

If someone can test the 20 level share party (whether char or mastery difference) that would be great, if just to confirm our assumptions.

Proof? I get more exp 11+ lvls from my char lvl than I do 10 or 12.. are you saying lvl 16s farming should be plvled @ lvl 18 mobs?

No. If you are being power-leveled by someone within 20 levels, there is no penalty. You can be power-leveled on anything that higher-level char can kill. Again, this is from JM and should be confirmed, but this is what they say.

If you are solo grinding, then yes, a level 16 with a 9 gap should be grinding on 18's to get max XP (other factors like spawn rate and kill rate notwithstanding).

Proof of the solo/dist +11 penalty can be found here:
