Uhhh huh.

The truth is you have no idea what goes on in random lives, or what kind of morals they have just cause they bot. Ok now im rlly out of this thread.

Sure you do. People do not really act out of character. They know botting is wrong and that people hate it. They hate it too when they start playing. But they do not have the fiber to harden themselves against the temptation. Botting is a character flaw like lying or petty theft. You can say it is a very small flaw if you like, but cheating is still a flaw.

All those thousands of ppl who bot in silkroad are cheaters and lack moral fiber in RL that legit players have? Couldnt disagree more.

Like I said its pretty ignorant to think that, but hey its just my opinion.

PimpC, ever heard of the saying, "only the strong survives"?

Think botting as a killer disease and it takes out all the weak. Who's still left around? The strong.

Now, there's only so many legits around compared to the bulk of bots who play on Silkroad. To be able to resist botting makes you more resistance (stronger) than those who actually bot. As the botters are botting and the legits aren't.

you know to most ppl this is just a game...because you play SRO hardcore like crazy am i supposed to believe you apply that same fervor IRL....unless your pulling in over 6 figures a year i don't think your logic holds true, your a mother supposedly thats full time job, i take it you work to support your family, you may or may not still be in school of some kind. Yet despite all that you camped Venus until it opened to get your name and then played for 24 hours straight to lvl. Whether you'd like to admit it or not your in game dedication shows a direct IRL unambitious personality.

Im not saying all dedicated players are loser, far from it but if you applied the amount of time you spent playing SRO to a degree in physics or Chemistry or Learning 4 new languages you would've probably mastered each other those fields....You can't play 6+ hours a day sleep for 8+ hours work the 9-5 and raise children and tell me your living a more successful life than the guy who has 6 extra hours to dedicate to something else because he's botting instead of playing....

don't think this is anti-legit or pro-bot just accept it as what it is, you can't ignore the numbers....

Dang, we could be related or something, although I don't have a degree in IT (who really does? I prefer MCSE or CNA) and my daughters are teens (although they're out of the house).

Yep, I can't afford to dedicate more than a few hours per day, thus my slow progress so far :( Although, as a cleric I get more than a few invites just walking through Samarkand.

BTW, good luck on the botting thing, if only this would mean less botters in the game - I admit I'm going to try that trade spamming/DC on the bots on Olympus.

You cant accept that some people live differently do you? And if they do, you smite them for it because they didnt live the hard-knock life you have. Back off Xemnas, and realize you're the only person in the world.

People will do things the way they want. And for your info: I have met nightbloom's daughter. From what I've seen, nb is a great parent. Don't go judging people because you think you're cool.

Personally, I think so because I'm not cheating myself by thinking I'm making progress in a game that really isn't attributable directly to me.

That depends on how you look at your own life and define your own success. I can't see gaining any success by cheating or lying to yourself about your actions.

Be careful Xemnas. Your extrapolation of "Hands off parenting" from "My daughter is a teenager" is a bit over the top. I suggest you pick your battles with a bit more caution. Criticizing how anyone parents their children is a line you should cross with a bit more trepidation.

Someone once said to me "even Hitler had excuses." The number of excuses offered for behavior is directly proportional to one's own perception of the acceptability of that behavior. "Methinks thou dost protest too much." The amount of rationalization for botting is limitless. Some examples:

"It's only a game"
"I have a life"
"JoyMax should ban if they don't want bots, so it must be okay"
"The grinding got too hard"
"Everyone does it"
"Its the goldbots, not the player bots that are the problem"

...and the myriad variations of the above. For so many, especially younger kids, a lie repeated often enough becomes the truth. This was the problem with SRF's previous policy. These lies would be offered like a mantra on any and every occasion. It's frightening how many of you actually believe this stuff.

Yes, cheating is a character flaw.

Yes, doing anything for 12 hours a day, every day, is also a character flaw.

But self-deception is a greater character flaw and its prevalence here is troubling. The impending pubescence of many members will begin the maturation process and most of this will go away. But for those of you in your 20's that say this stuff and have actually convinced yourself of it's validity? You guys need to take a break. Turn off the bot. Get some fresh air and start engaging other humans.

Playing WoW for over one year now, I still have not seen one botter.

As apposed to seeing 3-4 in one day of SRO.

Dont bother posting about crap graphics or gameplay or anything else - I dont care and thats not the point. The point is about botting.

If you think it applies to you, then take the advice. If not, then ignore it. Why would you care if I'm talking to you or in general? I'm just some guy posting on a chat board about a game. Man, you take this too seriously.

Botting is a character flaw of selfishness.

I can give you related flaws.

Have you ever or would you park in a handicap parking spot if you were in a hurry? Some people feel perfectly justified doing so. They wouldn't if they had to make eye contact with a handicapped person while they did it, but it is one of those "faceless" crimes. The immediate need of "me now" is more important than the possible need of the unknown someone else.

Shoplifting from a large department store. I have an acquaintance who thinks its OK to do so because the company has so much money. Again, faceless crime. If he actually knew the store manager personally, he wouldnt steal but because "they" have so much, it is justifiable.

Botting is also a faceless crime of selfishness. Botters hurt the community but because they do not know us all irl, it is "just" a game and therefore has no bearing on rl. The immediate need of "me now" is more important than the good of all. That is a personality flaw. Doing what is right for the sake of it being right appears to be a ephemeral concept in gaming. "I can, therefore I am right" is so Machiavellian.

The incentives to cheat in this game are strong.

What disincentives there were have all but evaporated.

So the thing that gets you to play this game as a legit comes from within. For lack of a better word, lets call it integrity. Some people have it and some people don't. If you have no integrity, of course you're going to bot. That's a no-brainer. Once it became clear you wouldn't be banned by JoyMax, the last barrier was gone.

I remember being in a store in LA that people just started looting. A couple of kids (after a rave) just started grabbing shit and taking off. Then everyone did it. Everyone except me and my two friends. Every Farking person in that store started grabbing shit and running and the guy behind the counter ran out and started screaming at everyone. Most of you would have started grabbing shit. Or laughing at the story. Guess what? It's really Farking depressing to know how many shitheads are in the world.

And maybe this is why this dialogue is so difficult. If you have no integrity, any discussion of it will seem like a foreign language. You have no reference for understanding it. You will dismiss discussion of it as being from people who "take this all too seriously." Why do I still blather on? Maybe some of this will sink in. Maybe someone will get it. Maybe one of you closed-minded, self-assured little kids will realize that you're just fooling yourselves.

Sad enough as it is, it would be true for the majority of people. Look at some of the bots admission posts here. They say they just want to be high level, blah blah blah.

A lot of people need to understand that the game is to be enjoyed for fun. That you can go at your own pace. No one but yourself is forcing you to be Lv80, decked in SoSun with a few billion gold.

Though I disagree with the life statement. I think there's a good chance majority of bots babysit them all the time; at least in all the cases I've dealt with. Some life that must be for them.

Though if you want to do multi star trades, kill someone in pvp with out another idiot killing all low lvls, having cool and strong skills, or buy some SoX equips... Yeah you need to be lvl 80 with a few billions

(note I am against botting on iSRO, I'm just stating that maybe some people bot because of what the comunity turned SRO into)

You know I left my bot on when I went to volunteer for 3 months in Honduras after I graduated to teach my own first grade class in Spanish. Shithead, coward, close minded, little kid is what I am huh.

Why are you blathering on about me? Your not talking to me.

So try re-reading the thread and see the point I was trying to make, and maybe it will sink in for you. Or maybe I shoulda just have ignored you oh well im bored at work.

Exactly. You said you didn't bot. I never addressed you in my 2 long posts. Yet you keep applying my comments to you. You think all this is about you? All of my comments are about little PimpC who quit this game a long time ago? Like I've already said:
