READING the minds of terrorists to know where and when the next attack will occur is no longer the stuff of sci-fi films.

But the question is, can you convict someone of something that they haven't even committed yet?

What if I saw a movie about terrorist and the scientist picked up on that movie and they believed that the terrorist plans from the movie was created by me?

You can find clues that the person knows of an event about to happen and investigate on that matter.
This has already been an idea for a long time. Especially for customs.
But unless they can prove through a very extensive research that it is an effective method (which is far away),arresting for a mere thought is rubbish and they'll have to set up rules for interrogating/wasting time like that, warrant for brainstorming.

In minority report they really had a system that was apparantly fail proof or at least almost perfect until Tom Cruise came as an exception.
When we can see what we think, it might become an option.

cry all you want about privacy rights..I honestly could care less as an individual because I know I don't do illegal/suspicious things. If the government has to spy on 1000 clean, honest individuals to catch 1 terrorist who could have killed a lot of people, then that is a necessary evil.

Go get micro chipped while you're at it and let the government have access to your whole fkn life. You narrow-minded simpleton...how can you not see the big picture? The time will come where you cant even sneeze without the government knowing about it. Is that the world you want to live in? And no, its not a conspiracy. Do some research.

it doesnt matter what you do and what you know you dont do. if they can "see the future" than they can determine that circumstances drove you to do something you wouldnt normally. all that matters is what they claim to "know." one who gives up freedom for security deserves neither.
communist.

it isn't right for the government to spy on innocent people but when national security hangs on the line, the government needs to make sure to catch terrorists or state spies. And there needs to be some trust between the people and the government..every time theres some news about big government, people start screaming big brother and cry that the new world order is taking over. Why can't people trust the government more? Relationship between the governed and governors needs to be a two way street.

And most people I know who are against government spying are also the ones who do illegal things, like smoke pot, underage drinking, etc etc. It seems to me that these people are just angry that they are going to get caught doing something thats ILLEGAL. I know I'm not going to do anything illegal or something suspicious that will get the CIA breathing down my neck..they can watch me all they want, I don't care. How can the government catch terrorists or keep an eye on home-grown terrorists, extremist groups, their family members and friends, etc etc if it keeps its eyes completely closed in the name of privacy rights? All those people that the government caught who were trying to kill obama or mass murder people..all of them were apprehended through close monitoring.

Just because the government CAN spy on every single person in america doesn't mean they actually ARE going to..if you join an extremist group, participate in extremist rallies, or decide to visit mosques run by known muslim extremists...well be my guest and get spied on. If your just a regular joe..why would they spy on you? I already said, we should try to understand and trust the government.

Most people working in federal departments are just regular people too, most are trying to better the nation. Is that so difficult to understand?

EDIT: Oh and btw, most people who cry about big government are really just contradicting themselves horribly. Think about federally inspected drugs, federally maintained roads, federally inspected automobiles, federally monitored airspace, federally inspected beef, meat, eggs, federally run intelligence agencies, federally run postal service, etc etc...there are already many things that people don't really pay attention to that are run by the federal government. I mean if people hate federally monitored spy agencies, why don't they cry about federally inspected meat? What about drugs? The inspected cars that the government makes sure are safe to drive? All these can thereoretically be run by state governments too. Its called double standard.

tl:dr don't bother responding to this post if you're too lazy to read all of it.

tell you what. as soon as the government stops lying and hiding things from the people then they should be eligible for more transparancy from citizens.

i dont do illegal shit, im totally agaisnt the excuse of terror taking away my rights. that in and of itself is terrorism. and btw that is the plan behind any terrorism. not to kill or hurt anyone, but to cause the society to collapse on itself. thanks to the propaganda goblers it works just fine.

you wanna talk about terrorists. what EXACTLY defines a terrorist? you are aware that pretty much anyone can be made to be a terrorist. it doesnt take much.

you need to realize, if they can do it to another person, they can do it to you.

the government ISNT THE NATION, the citizens ARE! so no, giving government rights above the citizens is not the answer. if they can tell you what to do in one aspect of your life whats to stop them in any other aspect?

btw, lets take september 11th as an example. there has been evidence brought forth that there was warnings for weeks in advanced and no steps were taken as preventative then. why all of a sudden are they so concerned with preventing shit.

btw2 this thread isnt about that shit. its about people claiming they can tell anyone what the WILL do. if thats that case than again, anyone can be targeted and how do you dispute it?

It doesn't matter. By that time, people will learn how to stop thinking about bad stuffs and only think about sex all days :sohappy:

The good news is that there won't be any crime and war.
The bad news is that people lose their freedom.

Everything has a cost :sohappy:
